The Sacramento Kings went from a winless January to creating one of the best winning streaks entering Martin Luther King Jr. weekend.
Sacramento rides a four-game winning streak into Sunday's contest against the Portland Trail Blazers. But it's who they've toppled that even more impressive outside of the Washington Wizards on Friday.
Sacramento stunned the Los Angeles Lakers, New York Knicks and Houston Rockets -- the latter sparking the Kings' winning roll.
The Kings will be facing a team that's only two games behind the .500 mark. Yet this feels like Sacramento will walk into the Golden 1 Center as the favorite to win.
Here are three things to look forward to involving this Sunday tilt.
1 -- Domantas Sabonis Minutes
Sabonis went "John Wick" on the Wizards. He channeled the relentless action character for his Friday return and looked like his past starter self.
Here's an example of Sabonis' presence: Sacramento went from leading 22-20 to igniting to a 41-22 lead to close out the first half against Washington.
He earned 21 total minutes off the bench and scored 13 points. But will Sabonis receive an uptick in action for Sunday?
Maxime Raynaud has handled his starting role strongly in the absence of Sabonis. But perhaps Doug Christie swings to Sabonis as he showed his knee was a non-factor in the win over the Wizards.
2 -- Russell Westbrook to Lead Scorer
Seems like DeMar DeRozan and Westbrook plays a closet game of musical chairs for who scores more the following night.
Lately when DeRozan is the leader in scoring, Westbrook take the lead scorer title the following game.
Both are showing to work well in unison despite the dismal record the Kings have. Signs appear to point toward Westbrook leading the way on the scoring stat sheet.
Westbrook, though, delivered one of his worst scoring nights against Portland -- which was in the last meeting versus the Blazers.
3 -- Dennis Schroeder increased Role
He's another who made a return on Friday. Except his comeback was after serving a three-game suspension by the league.
Schroeder earned 20 minutes off the bench and responded with scoring 15 points. That included dishing out five assists. He also banked two threes in the win over the Wizards.
Christie likely will increase his load for this contest and ensure Schroeder can be a spark plug like he has been when called upon. He even delivered a 21-point night in the previous meeting with Portland.
