DeMar DeRozan to Warriors? Kings Rival Rising as Potential Destination cover image

The Sacramento Kings continue to face questions surrounding how much longer DeRozan can stay. Now the Golden State Warriors are linked for these reasons.

The Sacramento Kings have overheard the Philadelphia 76ers as one potential landing spot for DeMar DeRozan.

But now the perennial NBA All-Star is linked to a rival of Sacramento: The Golden State Warriors.

DeRozan's name got linked to the Pacific Division foe post Martin Luther King Day alongside Trey Murphy of the New Orleans Pelicans. He and another forward familiar with the Warriors were mentioned by NBA insider Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints.

"Other than Murphy, league personnel are linking wings and forwards like Andrew Wiggins and DeMar DeRozan to the Warriors. This is the area in which the Warriors are said to be evaluating the trade market, as the possibility of adding a notable frontcourt talent isn't viewed as a priority over addressing the forward positions," Siegel wrote.

Siegel added how: "DeRozan was recently mentioned as a potential target by ESPN's Shams Charania when considering where the Warriors go from here with Butler out."

However, there's still a dilemma facing the Kings and Warriors. And it has nothing to do with any recent on-court battles the two Northern California neighbors have faced.

"The Sacramento Kings haven't been an easy organization for the Warriors to talk trades with over the last year, given their long-standing interest in [Jonathan] Kuminga and desire to not relinquish anything of value to Golden State," Siegel said. "As a result, it's very unlikely the Warriors would do a Kuminga-DeRozan swap, but the veteran star is certainly an option whose name will be brought up in the brain trust's meetings."

This is still a trade that could manifest in the coming days. Every NBA team, including the Kings, have until Feb. 5 to make a trade -- as that February date represents the deadline day.

DeRozan remains a 20-point threat on the floor and often times, swaps with Russell Westbrook in lead scorer duties. He was a part of a rather tense moment against the Miami Heat's Pelle Larsson. DeRozan, still, provides a strong leadership presence and scoring threat on the floor for Sacramento.

He joins Malik Monk and Domantas Sabonis as the Kings players hearing their own trade chatter across league circles. Except both haven't been linked to the Warriors like DeRozan has.
