The Sacramento Kings have a roster that could be much better heading into the 2026 season, so it will be interesting to see how the young players progress and how the veterans perform.

With that said, it is time to take a look at the power forward position to see what kind of depth Kings have and how this position group can progress moving forward.

Keegan Murray

In terms of the starter at the power forward position it seems that will be veteran Keegan Murray who has continued to progress throughout his career.

In 2025, Murray did have some injury struggles, as he played in just 23 games, but he did provide some solid scoring and defense, as he averaged 14 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 1.6 blocks per game. However, Murray does need to improve his three-point shooting, as he shot 27.7 percent from three last season.

So, if Murray can take a step forward as a shooter from the perimeter and continue playing well on both ends, he should have a solid 2026 campaign.

Precious Achiuwa

Next up is forward Precious Achiuwa, who is a great depth piece for the Kings off the bench and actually played a significant role in 2025 as a result of injuries.

Last season, Achiuwa played in 73 games and started 57 of those games as a result of injuries, and he was pretty solid overall, as he averaged 10.1 points, 6.7 rebounds, 0.9 steals, and 0.7 blocks per game. Overall, Achiuwa is a great depth option and provides a solid presence on the interior on both ends of the floor.

Heading into 2026, if Achiuwa can continue to be reliable on the interior as a depth piece he could be huge for the Kings to be able to match with some of the more physical front courts in the NBA.

De'Andre Hunter

Another player the Kings have at the power forward position is veteran DeAndre Hunter who has been a solid contributor throughout his NBA career on offense and defense.

Hunter was mentioned in the small forward primer as the starter, but with his 6-7 and 221-pound frame, he has the ability to play both forward positions and provide great defensive flexibility. Additionally, Hunter has now had a full offseason in Sacramento, which should help him to find his role in the offense and shoot a lot more efficiently.

As Hunter heads into 2026, if he can find his shot consistently and continue to provide reliable defensive flexibility, he could be great depth at the power forward position in addition to being a solid starter at small forward.

Dylan Cardwell

The Kings also have a solid young player in Dylan Cardwell to provide depth at the power forward position.

During the 2025 season, Cardwell was a rookie and played in 44 games while starting one of those games which gave him great experience. On that note, during last season, Cardwell was great on the interior as he averaged 5.4 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks per game which could be huge for the Kings if they need a solid presence to defend the rim or rebound the ball.

So, as Cardwell prepares for this next season, if he can continue to be a strong presence on the interior, he could very well find himself a role in defending the rim and rebounding the ball as a rotational player for the Kings when Sacramento needs to match up with bigger teams.

Alex Karaban

Next up is rookie forward Alex Karaban, who could also be a solid depth piece for the Kings at power forward.

Karaban was also mentioned in the small forward primer, and with that said he could provide some great spacing for the Kings as in his college career he shot 37.4 percent from the three point line. Karaban brings solid size as well with his 6-7 and 225 pound frame in addition to the vast amount of experience he has which could be a key benefit for Sacramento this season.

For Karaban, if he can lean into his perimeter shooting, solid size, and college experience he may be able to carve out a role for himself during his rookie season, whether it be at small forward or power forward.

The Overall Takeaway

After taking a look at the power forward room for the Kings, it seems that there is solid rotation of players, and even if there are injuries, Sacramento has plenty of players who can step up. Additionally, there are several unique skill sets in this position group that could help the Kings to be a matchup problem throughout the season, depending on how head coach Doug Christie manages the lineup.

So, overall the Kings power forward position is in a good spot and if each player in this room is maximized it is quite possible that Sacramento might have very consistent play at the power forward position in 2026.
