Zach LaVine released his blunt side following Friday night.
The veteran endured the biggest loss of 2026 for the Sacramento Kings, plus watched his team allow the most points in a game this season in taking the 137-103 loss to the Golden State Warriors.
He's part of the seven-game slide Sacramento is on. Media members covering the Kings continue to seek answers on what's going wrong.
Except LaVine dropped a strong take on the current state of Sacramento, which he shared via Brendan Nunes of Sactown 1140 AM.
“You don’t get points for keeping things close in this league. You’re supposed to keep it competitive and get it down the stretch and figure out how to win and we haven’t done anything but the opposite of that," LaVine said, showing his frustration after taking the loss to the Pacific rival.
But LaVine's words comes amid some potential questions about his own future with the franchise.
His name has risen across the league among constant trade chatter. LaVine's name got linked to the Atlanta Hawks before the Trae Young trade. The Kings guard even was revealed to try and orchestrate a trade to the franchise.
Sacramento wound up shutting down that idea. Meanwhile, Young has since joined the Washington Wizards in the first blockbuster trade of the 2025-26 season. Young was a popular name attached as a Kings possibility -- yet Sacramento general manager Scott Perry made it clear weeks ago he doesn't want guards who are limited on the defensive side.
Sacramento, however, looks beyond limited on that side of the court. The 137 surrendered beats out the 136 the Detroit Pistons previously dropped on this same Kings team.
LaVine can still very well be shopped as a trade idea across the league. Other teams mentioned to make a potential move include the Brooklyn Nets, Phoenix Suns and as of Saturday afternoon, the Memphis Grizzlies. The latter now involving perennial NBA All-Star Ja Morant, who has reportedly grown disconnected with the franchise for quite some time.
LaVine scored 15 points in the loss to GSW. The forward grabbed three rebounds too along with dishing three assists in the loss.
