The Knicks got their second win of the season in dramatic fashion.
In their most recent game, the New York Knicks looked like the Knicks of the 2026 playoffs as they came back from down 19 points to beat the Chicago Bulls 133-127. They outscored Chicago 77-65 in the second half and were led by a 38-point performance from Jalen Brunson.
This marks two straight wins now for the Knicks, and after beating the 3-0 Detroit Pistons at home and now the Bulls on the second night of a back-to-back, this could spark a run for the Knicks after a slow start to the season.
After the game, New York head coach Mike Brown talked about what went right for the Knicks against Chicago, and he was impressed with his group's effort despite the slow start in the game.
Matt Marton-Imagn Images"Gotta take my hat off to our guys, they found a way to get it done," Brown said. "Also we did a better job with our turnovers…3 in the second half…Defensively, they were killing us in the paint 1st half; we did a better job…"
One element the Knicks have lacked this season is their fourth-quarter play. In their last two games, they have finished the game well, but in their first three, they made big mistakes late that led to losses.
Last season, the Knicks saw Jalen Brunson step up for them in big moments, especially in those fourth-quarter moments they were in early this season. Moving forward, big games from him and the role players will have to happen in order to become Eastern Conference contenders once again.
Matt Marton-Imagn ImagesAnother player who has stepped up for New York is guard Tyler Kolek. Kolek came off the bench and provided the Knicks 9 points and 9 assists off the bench. His production off the bench has been important since guard Jose Alvarado is out with a left ankle sprain.
Kolek is a young player who has a chance to step into an expanded role as the season progresses. He has the ability to hit big shots and find other players open at a high level. It will be interesting to see what his role will be with the Knicks moving forward.
New York will face another tough challenge against the Philadelphia 76ers in their first NBA Cup game on Friday on the road. It will be their second meeting, and with some momentum, the Knicks have the opportunity to make up for their season-opening loss.
