Luka Doncic and the Los Angeles Lakers travel east to take on the Dallas Mavericks on Saturday. Doncic will be playing against the team that traded him for Anthony Davis for the fourth time in his career, a stretch where he's averaging 33 points, 9.7 assists and 9.3 rebounds against the Mavericks.
The Lakers are still reeling from their recent loss to the Los Angeles Clippers on Thursday and a game against the deeply-injured Mavericks is an opportunity for the Lakers to grab a win and gain some momentum again.
Los Angeles may still be without one key piece of their roster, but on paper that should have enough talent available to put up a fight against Dallas and come away with a win.
Los Angeles Lakers guard Austin Reaves (15) is defended by Dallas Mavericks forward Naji Marshall (13) and guard Klay Thompson (31) as he drives to the basket in the first half at Crypto.com Arena. Jayne Kamin-Oncea-Imagn ImagesAustin Reaves (calf) remains OUT against the Mavericks. Reaves has been sidelined since Dec. 25 with a Grade 2 left calf strain, but a recent update from head coach JJ Redick suggests that Reaves has been "progressing well" and could make a return in the next few games for the Lakers, it just won't be in time for Saturday's matchup.
Adou Thiero (knee) also remains OUT with a MCL sprain in his right knee. Thiero has been out since Dec. 30 with the injury and he's due to be re-evaluated by Lakers medical staff in roughly four weeks from the date of the injury, potentially meaning that a return for the 2025 draft pick is on the horizon.
Daniel Gafford (ankle) is PROBABLE to play to Saturday. Gafford has missed four straight games due to a sprained right ankle, but will seemingly make his return against the Lakers.
Moussa Cisse (illness) is QUESTIONABLE due to illness for Saturday's game.
Dallas Mavericks forward Anthony Davis (3) is defended by Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James (23) in the second half at Crypto.com Arena. Jayne Kamin-Oncea-Imagn ImagesAntony Davis (finger) remains OUT with a left finger sprain. Davis has been out since Jan. 8 and he'll be re-evaluated six weeks from the date of the injury.
Dante Exum (knee) is OUT for the season while he continues to recover from knee surgery. Exum underwent surgery in November for the second time on his right knee after complications arose from an earlier knee surgery in the offseason.
Kyrie Irving (knee) remains OUT while he recovers from a knee surgery he had in March 2025 to repair a torn ACL he suffered late last season. Irving hasn't been officially ruled out for the 2025-26 season at this point, but he is yet to make his season debut.
Los Angeles Lakers guard R.J. Davis (55) dribbles the ball around Dallas Mavericks guard Ryan Nembhard (9) during the second half at T-Mobile Arena. Lucas Peltier-Imagn ImagesDereck Lively II (foot) is OUT for the season due to foot surgery he underwent in early December to address lingering discomfort and swelling in his foot following an earlier foot surgery in July to clear out bone spurs.
Miles Kelly (two-way) is QUESTIONABLE to appear Saturday while Ryan Nembhard (two-way) is PROBABLE to play. Both Nembhard and Kelly are on two-way contracts with the Mavericks and considering the injured state of the team may rely on one or both of them to fill out the roster.
