The Los Angeles Lakers beat the Brooklyn Nets 116-99 on Friday night at Crypto.com Arena behind another monster game from Luka Doncic.

But the moment everyone will remember from this one had nothing to do with Doncic's 41 points and everything to do with a father and his son sharing the floor together.

LeBron James and Bronny James checked into the game together to start the second quarter.

With the Nets on a 16-4 run and holding a 44-39 lead, Bronny found his dad with a bounce pass near the top of the key.

LeBron drew a double team and kicked it right back to Bronny, who knocked down the wide-open three to cut the deficit to two.

The NBA confirmed the play as the first father-to-son assist in league history.

The Moment

After the game, LeBron talked about what the play meant to him, and his words carried the weight of a dad who knows how rare all of this really is.

"I just think just, you know, not taking for granted, just, you know, being in the moment of us being on the floor once again," James said.

"That's two games back to back, you know, playing meaningful minutes and him also making another play. I got doubled and he was able to make, you know, the fake the pass to the corner and then knock down the three. So definitely a cool moment for us and also for our family."

He's done everything there is to do in this league across 23 seasons, but playing alongside his son still hits different.

LeBron is averaging 20.9 points, 6.9 assists, and 6.0 rebounds this season while helping the Lakers hold the third seed in the West at 48-26, and yet the highlight of his Friday night was watching Bronny pull up from three.

Why Bronny Is Getting More Run

Bronny only played four minutes against the Nets, but those were real rotation minutes rather than garbage time.

Starting guard Marcus Smart has been sidelined with an injury for the last two games, opening up a window for Bronny to get meaningful court time against both Indiana and Brooklyn this week.

And he's been making the most of it. Bronny's confidence has been building all season, and the numbers back it up with a 40.3 percent clip from the field and 40.0 percent from three across 33 appearances, a massive jump from his rookie year.

He finished the Nets game with three points on 1-of-2 shooting, and while that looks small on paper, the one shot he made will end up in every LeBron documentary that gets produced.

Austin Reaves has praised Bronny's growth and work ethic this season, noting his willingness to keep his head down through all the noise.

He's spent time bouncing between the Lakers and South Bay, but with each trip back up to the big league roster he looks more comfortable.

Bigger Picture

The Lakers have won 11 of their last 12 games and are locked into that third seed in the Western Conference. Brooklyn dropped to 17-57 with the loss.

The game was tight heading into the fourth at 85-84 before the Lakers blew it open with a 31-15 final period.

But the scoreline almost doesn't matter.

For one sequence in the second quarter, basketball became about a father passing the ball to his son and watching him drain a three.

LeBron has spent his career chasing greatness, and at 41 years old, he found a brand new version of it.
