Luka Doncic will serve a one-game suspension and be forced to sit out the Los Angeles Lakers' upcoming game against the Washington Wizards after Doncic was charged with his technical of the season during the lakers' 116-99 win over the Brooklyn Nets on Friday.

Doncic was hit with the tech as part of a double technical foul called both on him and Nets Ziaire Williams. The pair got into it with little over five minutes remaining in the third quarter. Doncic shoved Williams back while Williams responded by taking a swing toward Doncic and soon after the fouls were called.

When Doncic spoke about the situation after the game, he maintained his innocence in the situation and simply said that he was trying to get out of the altercation before it got serious and that Williams was the aggressor.

Doncic Explains

"He was getting in my face. Three times," Doncic said (via The Sporting Tribune). "I just wanted to get out of there. It's a double tech, of course. What can I say? I didn't even talk. I just wanted to get out of there. They said my push was exaggerated, Which was obviously not."

The suspension for the Wizards game will be unpaid, meaning that Doncic will miss out on roughly $264,000, or 1/174 of his salary.

Doncic already avoided earning his 16th technical foul once this season. Doncic was involved in another double technical situation in a game against the Orlando Magic on March 21 when he and Magic center Goga Bitadze got into a shouting match.

The Lakers appealed the decision on the argument that Bitadze should have received a warning prior to the double technicals as he was the aggressor in that situation made aggressive comments about Doncic's family. The NBA then rescinded Doncic's technical.

The chances of getting the technical against the Nets appealed looks slim, though, and the Lakers will almost certainly be without Doncic for the game.

How Will the Lakers Do Without Luka?

Despite the technical and the future loss of Doncic, the Lakers have now won 11 of their 12 games and Doncic put up another stellar stat line, scoring 41 points while shooting 15-25 from the field and adding eight rebounds and three assists.

Doncic will surely be missed against the Wizards, especially considering the tear that he's been on lately, but the Lakers have been building a strong brand together that should still be able to withstand one game without their superstar.

After all, it is just one game.
