Inside Paolo Banchero's Comments Ahead Of Road Game Vs Wizards cover image

Banchero shares a heartwarming fan encounter and reveals his approach to a demanding road schedule before facing the Wizards.

On meeting young fan Blake and making his dreams come true:

"It was really special. I was informed a few weeks beforehand that he would be at the game. Just heard his story and heard all he's been through and just wanted to do whatever I could to make him feel better. Obviously he's a Magic fan and fan of me. So when I heard that I wanted to be there for him and get to meet him and just talk to him and whatever he needs from me be able to offer it."

On how special it is now to be in a position to impact kids like Blake:

"Blake's case is a little more special than usual. Just all he's been through with the cancer and stuff like that at such a young age, he's had to fight really hard just to be here today. And so when you hear that he wants to meet me and he wants to come to a game and all that, it just makes you want to go out your way to make that happen cuz he's had to fight through so much. So definitely was just a good moment for both of us. Obviously me having an effect on him, but I feel like he had an effect on me too, just getting to meet him and talk to him."

On what he wants to see from the team tonight against the Wizards:

"Just to come out locked in from the jump, play good basketball, defend, and just come out here and get a win. Don't mess around or expect the game just to go the way we want it to. We got to go out and take it and get the win."

On the heavy road stretch and if it feels weird:

"They told us the other day we've only been home three days out of the last like 25 or something like that, which is a lot. But honestly, it hasn't felt too crazy to me. I think it's just the NBA. You get used to it. Every team goes through stretches where you play a ton of road games and you're not home. So, just that part of the season where that's the case. But we got to go out here and get these wins."
