From grueling summer workouts to refreshing locker room honesty, Jalen Suggs and Paolo Banchero reveal how Sean Sweeney’s disciplined culture is fueling Orlando’s bold championship aspirations.

The Orlando Magic have set a new standard with the hiring of head coach Sean Sweeney. As the 16th head coach in franchise history, he is expected to elevate the Magic to new heights, including making a deep playoff run and potentially contending for an NBA Finals appearance.

During Media Day, the Magic's core spoke highly on Sweeney, here's what they had to say:

Jalen Suggs on Sweeney’s accountability

Suggs said Sweeney has been honest with him from the beginning and isn’t afraid to tell players what they need to hear. He appreciates that Sweeney establishes trust through his daily interactions with players before holding them accountable when necessary.

Suggs believes that direct approach helps him keep information and stay accountable. He also respects that Sweeney expects a high level from him without sugarcoating anything, which has made it easier for Suggs to buy into the new coach.

Paolo Banchero on building a relationship with Sweeney

Banchero said he had a productive summer, spending time with his family while continuing to work on his game. Once Sweeney was hired, the two quickly began communicating, with Sweeney reaching out shortly after accepting the job.

The two had several lengthy conversations about Banchero’s game and what Sweeney expected from him. Sweeney also traveled to Seattle to spend time with Banchero and work with him directly, which helped establish their relationship before training camp.
