The Brooklyn Nets hear trade chatter and roster blowup ideas ahead of Sunday's game against the Memphis Grizzlies.
Yet it's the same for the Nets' opponent too.
It's time to dive into what three things to look forward to before the Nets and Grizzlies tipoff.
1 -- Is Ja Morant a future Net?
Time is officially ticking on the All-Star's time in Grind City.
He's the new subject of trade rumors ahead of this contest. Morant has been the constant subject of the rumblings throughout the season, but now it's intensified as of Friday evening.
Morant is being held out of the contest according to NBA insider Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints. Memphis has made it clear the Grizzlies and the perennial All-Star are heading for separation.
And that leads to No. 2 here.
2 -- Could Michael Porter Jr and Morant become a swap?
MPJ is another rising in popularity for the league's trade market.
While this is considering puzzling after Brooklyn traded for MPJ over the summer, Brooklyn still has his massive salary to deal with. Hence the rumors of Brooklyn possibly moving on.
MPJ, though, has created a push for the NBA All-Star game in February. He'd become the Nets' lone all-star selection if he lands on the Eastern Conference roster. He's risen as one of the few highlights for what's been a struggling Nets team.
But he struggled immensely on Friday -- going an astonishing 0-for-9 from behind the arc at Barclays Center. The loss to the Los Angeles Clippers marked his worst shooting night -- which could also add leverage to a possible departure.
Still, MPJ sounds like he's welcomed greatly with the Nets despite the record. Yet perhaps Sean Marks and Memphis can look at a possible swap here between Porter and Morant. They just won't be on the court.
3 -- This rising star is worth watching who'll play
Egor Demin is rising as a household name for Nets fans...and across the league.
He hit a Kevin Durant mark not long ago. Then led the Nets in scoring against the Clippers.
With the leading scorer out, count on Jordi Fernandez to turn to Demin's growing shooting touch here.
