The Brooklyn Nets are fresh off launching from long range against the Orlando Magic.
Egor Demin is coming in red hot while Michael Porter Jr. continues his NBA All-Star push. But the Nets are also aiming to shed a slow start into 2026 -- with Brooklyn losing four of its last five games.
Where can fans tune into the Friday night showdown?
YES Network will provide the coverage once again with either Ian or Noah Eagle on the call, plus Nets legend Vince Carter joining in. FanDuel Sports Network SoCal is an option for Clippers fans -- with Brian Sieman on the play-by-play call while joined by Jim Jackson and former head coach Mike Fratello.
NBA League Pass remains another outlet too -- with fans deciding between Premium ($114.99 with no commercials) and standard ($79.99 with commercials).
What's the line for the game? Here's Fernie Ruano with the betting preview:
Is this the night the Brooklyn Nets finally put four quarters of quality basketball together, again?
Well, not if you trust the numbers that most of the oddsmakers all over America have come with, as the Nets (11-23, 13th in the Eastern Conference) are currently a 3.5-point home 'dog vs. the Los Angeles Clippers (13-23, 12th in the Western Conference) at the Barclays Center on Friday night.
Brooklyn, 5-5 in their last 10 games overall, and coming off a heart-breaking 104-103 OT loss to the Orlando Magic as a short home underdog, is +140 on the moneyline.
The Clippers are -170 on the moneyline.
The over/under is 215.5 points for the 7:30 p.m. (ET) tipoff in Brooklyn, New York.
Brooklyn, 17-17 overall against the spread this season, is 12-17 in games in which they go off as 3.5-point underdogs - at least - this season.
But despite a quality home win five days ago against the Denver Nuggets in which young centerpiece Michael Porter Jr., who not only has emerged as the Nets No.1 offensive option but is developing into an NBA star, got a bit of revenge to the tune of 27 points and 11 rebounds, Brooklyn is just 5-14 at home.
And Porter Jr., who scored 34 points vs. the Magic on Wednesday night, and is in the midst of a career-season with 26.1 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 3.3 assists on 49.5 shooting, was added to the Nets injury report on Friday morning with right knee soreness, so his status vs. the Clippers are uncertain.
The Nets, 0-6 without Porter Jr. in the lineup, are averaging 102.7 points a game and loss by an average margin of 18.7 points when he's not available.
Hopefully, for the Nets' sake, Nic Claxton (13.3 points, 7.8 rebounds per game) and rookie Noah Clowney (13.1 points, 39.6% shooting) pick up some of the offensive slack.
The Clippers, buried in the bottom of the Western Conference thanks to a 6-21, are 7-3 in their last 10 games, despite a 123-101 loss vs. the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday night.
Los Angeles has notched wins over the Lakers, Rockets, Pistons and most recently the Warriors thanks to the stellar play of star forward Kawhi Leonard (28.0 points per game), the floor leadership and decision-making, believe it or not, of James Harden (8.0 assists per game), their improved defense and overall health status.
However, the Clippers, playing on the frontend of a back-to-back in this spot, are 4-14 on the overall on the road this season and 1-4 in their last five away from home.
The Clippers have won seven of last nine nine games. But Los Angeles, concluding a current three-game road trip vs. the Pistons in Detroit tomorrow night, is likely to be short-handed vs. the Nets as Leonard (right ankle sprain) is questionable, while F Bogdan Bogdanovic (left hamstring injury management) and Derrick Jones Jr. (right knee sprain) are out.
In three games vs. the Nets -- as a Clipper -- since November of 2023, Harden has averaged 19.0 points. Both teams meetup in Los Angeles on Sunday, January 25.
It's Friday night, which is usually the time some 'dogs come barking in.
Besides the Miami Hurricanes football team just won a huge game and this line is currently sitting at around 3.5-points.
And, I never turndown a chance to represent the 305.
Give me the Nets at home in a mild upset.
