The past Brooklyn star is pulling back the curtain on how he feels the franchise is really run.
Safe to say Cam Thomas has zero love for the Brooklyn Nets after his departure.
Thomas has criticized his former team earlier this month. But a new one-on-one interview with the New York Post unveiled Thomas' real feelings toward the Nets.
Thomas told Stefan Bondy of the Post that Brooklyn parted ways as a sign the team didn't believe in him anymore. However, Thomas took it further -- saying not a single front office executive cares about the players.
"That’s just who they are,” Thomas told The Post. “They don’t believe in nobody.”
Thomas is clearly secretly sharing his belief that names like Michael Porter Jr. or even top rookies Egor Demin plus Nolan Traore aren't cared about enough inside the building.
Thomas at one point averaged more than 20 points per game before a hamstring injury and handling even more reserve duties in his return. Still, he faced the constant rumblings that Brooklyn and him were heading towards a separation before the NBA Trade Deadline passed.
Brooklyn eventually waived him after failing to find a trade partner for Thomas. But Thomas cleared the air that he "never asked" to part ways with the Nets, nor asked why the team was heading in a different direction without him.
“I never asked. I don’t even care anymore. I’m on a different team," Thomas said.
He added how "I don’t want to talk about them much. But that’s what it was. They didn’t believe."
Brooklyn is currently on a losing slide since the departure of Thomas to the Milwaukee Bucks (Thomas got claimed off waivers by the team). Thomas and the Bucks remain in contention for a possible playoff spot. The Nets, meanwhile, are increasing their chances of landing the top overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft Lottery.
But again, Thomas doesn't have much positive thoughts to say about his former NBA employer.
“Always thought — I don’t know. They always thought something was better, I guess. I don’t know. Always chasing something," Thomas said.
Brooklyn is currently 15-44 overall and riding a seven-game losing streak. The Boston Celtics toppled Brooklyn on Friday in handing the Nets their seventh consecutive loss.
