The Brooklyn Nets have hit the "basement floor" before.
Law Murray and his power rankings from The Athletic once had the franchise as the Eastern Conference's lowest ranked team. Granted, that was before February hit.
So where does Brooklyn land this time around?
Murray rolled out the latest rankings on Monday, one day after the NBA All-Star Game break. Brooklyn now stands at 15-38 overall with games set to resume this week (the Nets return to action on Thursday against the Cleveland Cavaliers on the road).
The good news for Brooklyn? The Nets don't sit at the very bottom -- with the Sacramento Kings claiming that spot. However, the Nets landed in a certain "zone" that Murray described.
"We have reached the Silver Zone. You won’t find any All-Stars in this tier," Murray explained.
The Nets received one highlight during the all-star weekend.
"But Egor Demin was a Rising Star, and he had some nice moments for Team Vince, including a quick dunk off the opening tip against Team T-Mac," Murray said.
Demin indeed showed his skillset in what could become a stellar career down the road. He's formed a strong rookie tandem with Nolan Traore.
Yet the Nets are reportedly looking into another talent who's near similar in skillset with the duo.
"A name that I think is really important to monitor from Nets fans from what I heard across the league is Kingston Flemings of Houston. That's a name I've heard the Nets are interested in," NBA scout Corey Tulaba said to Nets insider for ClutchPoints Erik Slater during his appearance via Locked on Nets.
Flemings can very well land in Brooklyn if two scenarios happen: He enters the 2026 NBA Draft as a freshman and if the Nets don't land the top pick in the June draft.
The Kings remain out in front for the race to land the top pick in the next draft with their 12-44 record. Yet the lottery doesn't promise that the league's worst team is automatically handed the No. 1 overall pick.
Overall, the Nets manage to avoid landing at No. 30 in The Athletic's newest rankings. But now is facing a top five pick during the summer.
