Michael Porter Jr. unapologetically has delivered 20-point nights multiple times in December. Yet the Brooklyn Nets star is even honest with himself about his performances.
"MPJ" looked stellar again on the Barclays Center floor -- nearing another double-double against the Golden State Warriors. But his 27 points with nine rebounds weren't enough in the 120-107 loss on Monday night.
Porter Jr. admitted he and the Nets aren't used to GSW's style of offense with the off-ball movement.
"We're just not familiar with their offense as a team," Porter shared via the YES Network. "They play a unique style of basketball and we need to execute better on the court."
But that wasn't the only honest bomb he dropped postgame. Porter, amid his red-hot December, shared this belief about himself.
"I probably need to play more aggressively offensively in the fourth quarter as well," Porter said.
Despite his breakout scoring night, Porter settled for only two points in the final period -- both coming from the free throw line.
He shared these words despite hitting Kobe Bryant territory on one notable play.
Porter lured in two Warriors defenders while posting up. He still manages to bank a fadeaway basket despite the hand swipe and drawing brief contact. Porter hit a shot the late Bryant often made during his legendary career with the Los Angeles Lakers -- especially with starting off with his back to the basket before finishing the fade.
That wasn't his only big basket moment. Porter drove to the hoop while dribbling with his left hand. He normally finishes his baskets including dunks with his right. Except MPJ threw down this viscous dunk with his non-dominant hand in front of Trayce Jackson-Davis.
The Nets' social media team on X, formerly Twitter, couldn't help but post more Porter dunk content -- sharing these images online along with a separate dunk from Nic Claxton.
Brooklyn continued to rub it in online -- putting together a slow motion reel of the Porter throwdown.
Porter has now delivered five straight 20-point games. But he kicked off December putting together four consecutive 30-plus point contests to ignite a strong final month for Brooklyn.
The Nets entered their home arena winners of seven of their last 10 games. That included pounding the Western Conference runner-up Minnesota Timberwolves behind Cam Thomas and his 30-point outburst off the bench.
But amid his constant scoring outbursts, Porter is honest with himself -- and believes he needs to change his fourth quarter production.
