A lethal lefty shooter with an elite quick release, Ryan Conwell offers the backcourt scoring punch Brooklyn needs to bolster their offensive depth in the second round.

With the 2026 NBA Draft rapidly approaching, we at NetsRoundtable will continue to shine light on all types of players in this year's loaded class.

Recently, I covered UConn forward Alex Karaban and Kentucky guard Otega Oweh, two players who are projected to be second round picks.

In this profile, I will highlight Louisville guard Ryan Conwell, another player mocked in this draft range.

Journeyman

Conwell, who started his career at the University of South Florida, made stops at Indiana State and Xavier before showing out in his senior year with the Cardinals.

The 6-foot-4 combo guard averaged a team-high 18.8 points per game, shooting 40.8-percent from the floor and 34.5-percent from beyond the arc, posting double-digit scoring outputs in all but one game.

Early in the season, in a huge rivalry game against then-ranked No. 9 Kentucky, Conwell scored 24 points, knocking down four 3-pointers to help knock off the Wildcats.

He followed up this performance with back-to-back 20-plus point performances against Ohio and Cincinnati, before exploding for a season-high 32 points against NJIT.

Conwell had everything going for him, adding nine rebounds and six assists while knocking down a career-high eight 3-pointers.

Marksman From Deep

Conwell does a lot of his damage from behind the arc, with his 3.29 long balls made per game ranking top-20 nationally.

While Conwell's percentages did take a slight dip this past season, he posted consecutive seasons shooting 40-percent or better from 3-point range with Xavier and Indiana State.

Conwell has a smooth, lefty jump shot, possessing the ability to shoot off the dribble or off the catch.

He also has a very quick release, allowing him to get his shot off before outstretched hands can make a significant contest.

Areas For Improvement

Conwell needs to get more physical in his drives, not allowing bigger defenders to knock him off his line.

While Conwell's sharpshooting will be his calling card, he needs to be able to finish at the rim when he's chased off the arc.

Draft Projection

In ESPN's post-combine mock, Conwell landed with the San Antonio Spurs at the No. 44 overall selection, just one pick after the Nets.

On ESPN's big board, Conwell is ranked as the No. 35 prospect in the draft.

Are Nets a Fit?

Brooklyn needs to get more dynamic in the back court.

Bringing in Conwell, who is instantly an NBA-level shooter and experienced at many levels of the college game, would be a boost to the Nets' offensive firepower.
