Brooklyn is presented lots of options to improve the franchise. Including a potential late round gem here in the Bears star.
The Brooklyn Nets have three choices to make on NBA Draft night.
Outside of their projected top five pick, the franchise holds two more selections in day two of the event.
Kings and Nets Roundtable already presented Keaton Wagler of Illinois, Kingston Flemings of Houston, Darius Acuff of Arkansas plus Darryn Peterson of Kansas as early pick possibilities. Of course, AJ Dybantsa of BYU is the trending favorite among fans.
But there are potential late round gems to monitor too for Brooklyn. Local standout Zuby Ejiofor of St. John's has risen as one gaining steam. Same with Isaiah Evans out of Duke as one other day two option.
This time we swing back to the late round possibilities and dive into why Baylor's Tounde Yessoufou is worth a look if you're general manager Sean Marks and head coach Jordi Fernandez.
Rim Attacker
Yessoufou heads to the draft as one of the best dunkers available.
The small forward arrives to the hoop with fierce intentions. As seen here:
The Nets can gain one of the nation's top transition attackers here.
Yessoufou isn't just cerebral enough to poke the ball out and create a fast break opportunity. He shows strong acceleration and a second gear in creating the dunk.
Shooting Touch Examination
He's not limited to just dunking, though.
Yessoufou knows when to step back and nail the basket from long range. Often resorting to his powerful upper body and elbows to create space for the shot attempt:
Yessoufou even has hit fadeaway jumpers when one-on-one with defenders. He's skilled at squaring up a defender then banking the shot attempt.
Areas of Concern
Yes, his knack for igniting a fast break charge is intriguing.
But there's this big concern to present before he hears his name called in the draft.
His ball-handling against talented defenders is a massive flaw as he lost control of the basketball. Scouts will believe he can become turnover prone in the NBA.
That also doesn't bode well for Fernandez as his team dealt with multiple turnovers throughout the season.
He also must establish more consistency in his perimeter shooting.
Is he a Nets fit?
Yessoufou brings a high ceiling when it comes to his athleticism.
The talent from Benin can certainly fit this franchise through this aspect: The international representation starting with Fernandez. He can then mesh with Egor Demin and Nolan Traore.
But he must become more consistent from 3-point land. Regardless, he's a possibility at No. 33 for Brooklyn.
