The Brooklyn rookie is shut down for the rest of the season. But knows the real work lies ahead.
The Brooklyn Nets have Egor Demin recharging following his foot ailment.
The franchise made the decision to rest him with the intent of getting him recharged for the summer. He'll be expected to play a big role for the Nets' NBA Summer League work in Las Vegas.
It sounds like a grueling July is on deck for Demin. Though he admitted via Erik Slater of ClutchPoints that he's used to productive summers as a basketball player.
"These past years, I didn’t really have that much of a complete summer for all this time,” Demin said. “Probably only one before I went to BYU, during which I was also changing places [from Madrid to Utah], which obviously was a little bit stressful."
This time it's a different destination for Demin.
"Now, I know exactly where I’m going to be, I know exactly what I’m going to be doing, and I know exactly what type of timing throughout the summer I’m going to have," Demin said. "So it kind of gives me confidence in my development."
He didn't hesitate to give the summer of 2026 this title.
"That’s why I think this summer is probably one of the most important summers in my life," Demin said.
The entire world calls June to August "summer." But what about Demin?
"It’s hard to call it a summer, the summer I had last year," Demin said. "With the draft, pre-draft workouts, my foot injury, and all that. But I’m really excited about this summer, and it started basically now."
He adds how this becomes a blessing in disguise for him as he continues to fine tune his game at the NBA level.
"Not many players get an opportunity to get prepared for this summer before they actually start the summer workouts. So I got this chance now, so I’m trying to be intentional with whatever I have," Demin said.
Demin ends the season averaging 10.3 points per game with 25.2 minutes a night. He also shot 38.5% from three-point land in handing Brooklyn an extra shooter next to Michael Porter Jr.
Brooklyn has one more big moment for the summer: Figuring out where the Nets land in the June 2026 NBA Draft including if they land the top pick.
