The Brooklyn veteran has become linked to an Eastern Conference team ahead of the league's Feb. 5 trade deadline.

The Brooklyn Nets have five nights left to determine their final roster ahead of the NBA's trade deadline.

Cam Thomas is now rising for one Eastern Conference team before Feb. 5 arrives.

Thomas, who's long been a trade target, surfaced on the radar of one east team Saturday morning per Michael Scotto of HoopsHype. Scotto adds how another veteran is attached to this team: the Milwaukee Bucks for the following reasons.

"Cam Thomas and D’Angelo Russell are both on Milwaukee’s radar contingent on other deals the Bucks are working on, league sources told HoopsHype," Scotto wrote. "Thomas, a proven bucket getter that averaged 22.9 points in 91 combined games in his prior two seasons, would potentially be useful for the Bucks, who rank fourth-worst in points per game (111.8)."

But there's a potential curveball involving a possible Bucks-Nets deal for Thomas.

"It’s worth noting that Thomas has a no-trade clause and would need to approve of any trade," Scotto adds.

But this looks like a deal Thomas may welcome.

Even despite helping Brooklyn snap its seven-game slide, Thomas earns a chance to get out of a draft lottery situation with the Nets.

Brooklyn remains one of the league's worst teams at 13-34 overall. The Nets are increasing their chances of either landing the top pick of the draft lottery or at least land inside the top five. This means Brooklyn and general manager Sean Marks can attempt to lure in AJ Dybantsa of BYU, Darryn Peterson of Kansas or Cam Boozer of Duke.

Furthermore, Thomas appears to be losing ground as the Nets' second-leading scorer to Michael Porter Jr. -- who's another trade candidate. Rookie Egor Demin has emerged as a breakout scorer and starter -- plus just recorded his first double-double of the season against the Utah Jazz.

A Thomas-to-Milwaukee proposal could help the latter franchise maintain Giannis Antetokounmpo. Milwaukee isn't completely out of the east playoff race despite its 18-28 record and 12th ranking in the conference.

However, the "Greek Freak" continues to hear his own name across the trade market -- with the Nets at one time being linked to him. But a swap for Antetokounmpo is losing ground, as the New York Knicks reportedly look more closely at landing the past NBA champion -- which, in turn, places Antetokounmpo on an aspiring NBA champion.

Overall, it's looking more bleak that Thomas won't stay with the Nets very long. Now Milwaukee rises as a new contender to land him, and very much looks like a prime fit, especially if this move manages to keep Antetokounmpo from leaving and handing him an extra scorer.
