The Milwaukee Bucks announced the latest injury towards Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo hasn’t had the best injury luck this season, and that stands to continue after he sustained an injury in the team’s 134-123 win over the Indiana Pacers. Antetokounmpo suffered a hyperextended left knee and bone bruise that ESPN's Shams Charania reports will be reassessed in one week, sidelining him from action temporarily. Head coach Doc Rivers gave an encouraging update Tuesday that the imaging didn’t show any structural damage. The 31-year-old was injured when he dunked during the third quarter of Sunday’s home contest and landed awkwardly. The Bucks sat Antetokounmpo for the rest of the game.

Sources further tell ESPN that it isn’t expected to be season-ending, and that the Milwaukee superstar intends to hit the court again this season. Tuesday’s 123-116 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers was the Bucks’ 68th game of the season with 14 games remaining on the regular schedule. The 28-40 squad sits at 11th in the Eastern Conference standings and are 6.5 games behind the Charlotte Hornets for the final spot in the play-in tournament at No. 10. Rivers was asked about assessing those risks to the star when the team is not exactly contending, and he didn’t have a definitive answer for the star who has already missed the most games of his career.

Here is the full story from Bucks Roundtable writer Jack Haslett on the latest injury the superstar has suffered.

Antetokounmpo has missed 32 contests in the 2025-26 NBA campaign, largely due to right calf strains. Unfortunately for Milwaukee, the difference is there: the Bucks are 11-21 without Antetokounmpo, and 17-19 when he plays.
