The 76ers force Game 7, lifted by Tyrese Maxey and Paul George’s strong performances.

A resilient Philadelphia 76ers team made a statement Thursday night with their 106-93 victory over the Boston Celtics

Despite Boston taking a 3-1 lead out of the gate, the 76ers have now won two straight games while facing potential elimination.

Lifted by a strong start from center Joel Embiid, the Sixers saw impact from a number of players including stars Tyrese Maxey (30 points) and Paul George (23 points).

For more on the Sixers’ win and the team’s surge in the middle 24 minutes, 76ers Roundtable publisher Anthony Pasciolla has the details from the matchup.

What makes the Sixers’ performance so impressive is the nature of their bounce-back. The Celtics’ 3-1 series start included two wins of 32 points. Boston secured Game 1 by a score of 123-91 and Game 4 with a final of 128-96.

A pair of 30-plus point losses has the potential to be deflating for many teams. But the veteran experience of Philadelphia has helped them not just weather the storm, but fight back from it. Now, they have the Celtics in their heels with a Boston deciding home game on the way.

The Sixers-Celtics series will now go down to a Game 7. The contest will take place Saturday, May 2 to decide who will move on to the Eastern Conference semifinals.

The winner will take on the New York Knicks, who just put on a dominant display embarrassing the Atlanta Hawks by a score of 140-89.

The Knicks’ 51-point victory tied the No. 5 largest scoring margin in NBA postseason history alongside last year’s Oklahoma City Thunder131-80 win over the Memphis Grizzlies
