The Denver Nuggets, despite having begun the season 14-6, can’t seem to keep their typical starting lineup fully healthy.
It started with Christian Braun, who went down with a left ankle sprain last month and has missed the Nuggets’ last nine games. Then came Aaron Gordon’s right hamstring injury, which has caused him to miss the last five games.
Now Jamal Murray (Right Ankle Sprain) is listed as questionable to play tonight against the Indiana Pacers, per the NBA’s latest official injury report. The injury took place during the Nuggets’ last outing against the Dallas Mavericks, and he did not see the court in the fourth quarter.
“I’m hoping it just was something that happened tonight, and he can get treatment the next two days and we can see him come back,” Nuggets head coach David Adelman said during the postgame press conference following the team’s loss to the Mavericks. “It was a shame. He had nine assists. It was one of those games I thought he was going to have 15 assists, 20 points.”
If the Nuggets are without Murray, it will mean more fluctuation in the starting lineup. Peyton Watson and Spencer Jones, who typically come off the bench, have had to fill in more frequently as of late as a result of the injuries that have piled up for Denver.
Other players on the injury report for tonight are Nikola Jokic (Left Wrist Sprain), though he is listed as probable, and Julian Strawther (Lower Back Injury Management).
Strawther has missed the Nuggets’ last eight games, while Jokić has yet to miss any time.
As for the Pacers, they have several injury designations heading into their matchup against the Nuggets.
Obviously, Tyrese Haliburton remains out with his achilles tear, but other Indiana players who will be on the sidelines are Obi Toppin (Right Foot Stress Reaction), Aaron Nesmith (Left Knee MCL Sprain), Kam Jones (Lower Back Stress Reaction) and Quenton Jackson (Right Hamstring Strain). Johnny Furphy (Left Ankle Sprain) is questionable heading into play.
Denver and Indiana last played each other on Nov. 8. The Nuggets came home with the 117-100 victory, and interestingly enough, were still successful despite missing both Gordon and Murray in that game.
If anything, that bodes well for Denver tonight, as they may end up more unmanned than they already are come game time.
The Nuggets and Pacers tip off at 7 p.m. EST at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
