Taking a look at the top three takeaways from the Houston Rockets' solid win over the Boston Celtics on Monday Night.
The Houston Rockets were hoping to add yet another win to their resume on Monday night, and they were able to do just that as they defeated the Boston Celtics by a final score of 109-93, which was a solid team win.
With that said, let's take a look at the top three takeaways from the Rockets' solid win over the Celtics.
Alperen Sengun Leads the Way
To start off, one of the biggest things noticed in this game was the fact that center Alperen Sengun was great all night and played like the Rockets' best player all night.
For the game, Sengun tallied 26 points, seven rebounds, 10 assists, two steals, and two blocks which shows his ability to contribute all over the floor. When it came to efficiency, Sengun was also solid as well as he shot 12-for-15 from the field, 1-for-2 from three, and 1-for-2 from the free-throw line.
All that to say, Sengun played very well on Monday night against the Celtics in basically every area and if he can continue to elevate his play against the top competition in the NBA, there is no telling what Houston can accomplish this season.
Kevin Durant Has Limited Shot Attempts
Next up is a very interesting takeaway which is the fact that forward Kevin Durant had limited shot attempts on the offensive end.
Over the course of this game, Durant scored 12 points on 5-for-6 from the field and 3-for-4 from the free-throw line while also recording three rebounds, three assists, two steals, and one block. Looking at the stats, it is not normal for Durant to have just six field goal attempts, but the Rockets were able to win and throughout this season so far, Durant has been able to perform in a way that prioritizes that which appears to be his main focus.
So, as the Rockets move forward, it will be interesting to see how Durant approaches everything on the offensive side and if he can continue to help Houston stack wins whether he gets a lot of shot attempts or not.
Reed Sheppard Plays More Than Bogdan Bogdanovic
The final takeaway from this game is the fact that guard Reed Sheppard played more than guard Bogdanovic.
In the game on Monday, Sheppard played 17 minutes while tallying eight points, one rebound, one assist, and one steal, while Bogdanovic played just five minutes and recorded just one assist. While this was only one game, it does appear that head coach Ime Udoka is trusting Sheppard a bit more, so it will be interesting to watch how this bench rotation progresses.
Moving forward, it will be intriguing to watch if Sheppard or Bogdanovic play a bigger role off the bench as getting contributions from the reserves are critical. Regardless, of who does end up getting that bigger role, the competition should push Sheppard and Bogdanovic.
