The NBA world just got its biggest news of the season with ESPN's Shams Charania recently reporting that the Milwaukee Bucks will be listening to trade offers for Giannis Antetokounmpo.
There have been reports that the Greek Freak has been growing frustrated with the Bucks going back to last season, which begs the question of what if that same situation happened to some of the league's biggest stars?
In a recent article by Bleacher Report's Andy Bailey, he puts together a list of some absolutely absurd trade ideas for some of the league's star players.
One of his scenarios sees the San Antonio Spurs sending Victor Wembanyama, Devin Vassell, and Kelly Olynyk to the Denver Nuggets in exchange for perhaps the most untouchable player in the league, Nikola Jokić.
"Now, in reality, the Nuggets and San Antonio Spurs would probably both say no to a trade involving Jokić and Victor Wembanyama," Bailey writes. "The only reason the trade is unbalanced in this form is because San Antonio would have to send out more salary to make the deal legal under the current trade rules. But even with that imbalance, a Spurs team with Jokić, Stephon Castle, De'Aaron Fox and Dylan Harper would be an obvious title contender... The Nuggets with Wemby, Jamal Murray, Aaron Gordon and Cameron Johnson would be too... And the long-term prospects would probably be better."
We are living in a world where there is almost a zero percent chance this would ever happen, but most people would have told you just a few seasons ago that Giannis would spend the rest of his career with Milwaukee.
So it is fun to dream and talk about these scenarios that could happen in an alternate reality.
If the Spurs were to trade for the Joker, their defense might get a bit worse, but their offense would immediately skyrocket. The three-time MVP is one of the best centers of all time, and is most definitely the best passer at the position that the NBA has ever seen.
But having a player like Wemby for hopefully the foreseeable future is something the Spurs will definitely be okay with.
In just his third season in the league, he is averaging almost 25 points and 11 rebounds, and he is doing so with some absolutely absurd defense. He is also much improved with his shooting percentages, both from the field and from three.
So while it may be fun to talk about outlandish trade scenarios, the Spurs are just fine with having perhaps the most intriguing prospect in NBA history for hopefully the rest of his career.
