San Antonio won again, this time without Victor Wembanyama, in a 118-99 win over the Clippers in Los Angeles.
Even with no Victor Wembanyama available on Thursday, San Antonio looked just fine, as the Spurs cruised past the Clippers 118-99 inside Intuit Dome.
The Spurs led by as many as 26 points in a complete team effort as they continued to stake their claim as the NBA's hottest team.
De'Aaron Fox led San Antonio with 22 points off of a 9-of-13 shooting effort in the late-night affair. He also tallied eight rebounds, five assists and three steals in an impressive overall outing.
Stephon Castle finished narrowly behind Fox, as he went for 20 points and led the Spurs from beyond the arc with three made 3-pointers.
Outside of the starters, San Antonio once again got big nights off the bench. Dylan Harper and Keldon Johnson racked up 19 points and 13 points, respectively.
As a team, the Spurs outshot L.A. from the field 53 percent to 43 percent. This included a 39 percent to 19 percent split from 3-point range.
Wembanyama, the Spurs' French phenom, rested on the second night of a back-to-back after he popped up on the injury report with a right ankle injury management designation.
For the Clippers, Kawhi Leonard had a game-high 24 points alongside six rebounds and five assists. Despite his solid performance, the former Spur was bested by his previous squad.
While Wembanyama has been sensational for the Spurs and definitely makes a difference on the floor, San Antonio showed that they are well-rounded unit outside of their superstar. This team performance is also highlighted by the fact that the Clippers are headed for the play-in and could be a potential first round opponent for the Spurs.
The victory gives San Antonio its 11th win in-a-row and 26th in their last 28 games. The Spurs have been absolutely electric since February 1 and lead the league in winning percentage during this stretch.
Off this hot-streak, the team is knocking on the door of 60 wins for the first team since 2017. San Antonio has five games left on the regular season schedule and has the chance to reach its second-highest win total ever if they can sweep through the remaining slate.
Despite the fantastic play down the stretch, the Spurs still find themselves two games behind Oklahoma City for first in the Western Conference. However, the dream of topping the conference is definitely not over for San Antonio.
Even if the squad can't reach the absolute top of the standings, they are still locked into the second seed in the West and have shown their ability to beat anyone, including the Thunder.
With San Antonio playing at such a high level, even without Wemby, they will be a tough out for any team in their first playoff trip in seven years, which nears closer and closer each day.
