Spurs Fans Notice Alarming Victor Wembanyama Trend cover image

The San Antonio Spurs have pushed their win streak to 11 games in a row, but fans have noticed something alarming about Victor Wembanyama that will need to be solved before the postseason.

After beating the Brooklyn Nets on Thursday, 126-110, the San Antonio Spurs have pushed their winning streak to 11 games. They are the hottest team in the NBA, look poised to make a deep run in the playoffs, and are led by an MVP candidate in Victor Wembanyama.

However, Wemby seems to be slowing down. In the last five games, all wins, he is averaging 18 points, shootin 20.8% from deep, and only 41.7% from the floor.

His defense and rebounding have remained fantastic, although on offense, he looks fatigued and as if he is saving his energy for the defensive end. While the Spurs have scorers who can step up, the fact that their best player is taking a back seat can't be ignored.

Fans Notice Wemby's Fatigue

Not only has Wembanyama been missing shots, but some of his attempts have been clear "get the ball out of my hands" efforts. He's still the best player on the team, by far, but the travel between the Rodeo Road Trip and All-Star Break is clearly piling up.

"Wemby has been looking tired the last 2 games," posted a fan. "Playing two really physical teams in Detroit and Toronto back to back probably didn’t help - I think that’s why the points in the paint are down, when Wemby is tired, he hovers more around the 3 point line and saves his energy for D."

"WEMBY NEEDS TO TAKE A NAP AT HALFTIME! GIVE THAT MAN HIS SLEEP," added another.

"We've got two days now, and we're towards the end of a crazy road trip," he said after the second half of a back-to-back. "So hopefully, knock on wood, everybody's still healthy. But we've got to recover like crazy until the end of the road trip."

After missing the second half of last season with blood clots, Wembanyama is not going to take anything for granted. He is also still award-eligible, but can only miss four games before he flies under the 65-game threshold.

The Spurs won't play again until Monday against the Knicks, and then will have an off day before they travel to Philadelphia. After that, they will return to San Antonio for a six-game homestand, getting some rest between games without all of the travel.
