The 2025-26 NBA season has been enjoyable for long-time fans, who are still witnessing greats like Kevin Durant, LeBron James, and Steph Curry play at an All-NBA level well into their 30s, while getting to witness players like Victor Wembanyama and Cooper Flagg start to blossom into the next generation of stars.
In between the rising stars and the established veterans are players like Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Anthony Edwards, players who are still young but have already established themselves as top stars on their respective teams. When it comes to judging the popularity of these players, one statistic is often referred to.
Halfway through the season, apparel and merchandise company Fanatics and the NBA Store have released the top-selling jerseys in the NBA through the midway point. Coming in at the top spot in Curry, which isn't much of a surprise, as he's changed the game the most of any active player and continues to impress well into his 30s.
The rest of the top five is rounded out by Luka Doncic, Jalen Brunson, Victor Wembanyama, and LeBron James, with the Los Angeles Lakers being the only team with two players ranked inside the Top 15.
Just missing out on the top five in the sixth spot is Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards, who has gained popularity not just through his play but also his personality.
While already a star, Edwards gained a lot of fans during his feature in Netflix's show Starting 5, appearing in Season One alongside LeBron James, Jimmy Butler, Domantas Sabonis, and Jayson Tatum. It followed Edwards during the 2023-24 season, where he earned his first All-NBA selection and finished 7th in MVP voting.
His popularity is also clearly seen on his Instagram following, amassing over five million followers, often showcasing new color ways for his signature Adidas AE 1s.
Of course, his play on the basketball court carries a lot of weight as well, averaging a career-best 29.9 points per game this season, while shooting career highs from the field (49.9%) and three-point range (41.3%). If he can lead the Timberwolves to a third-straight Western Conference Finals, his name will be talked about even more.
Looking back on the list, Edwards ranks ahead of several former (and reigning) NBA MVPs, including Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (7th), Nikola Jokic (9th), Kevin Durant (12th), and Giannis Antetokounmpo (13th). The Timberwolves as a team also rank seventh in top-selling merchandise, which ranks fourth in the Western Conference.
