Anthony Edwards and LaMelo Ball are getting along.

The combination of Anthony Edwards and LaMelo Ball seems like one of the most perfect matches in all of the NBA, both in terms of their play styles and their personalities.

Form a purely basketball standpoint, Ball is the player that Edwards has been waiting for in the backcourt since the first season of his career.

As a playmaker, Ball is one of the best in the NBA and his own offensive talents mean that he can draw defenders away from Edwards in order to create opportunities for his new superstar teammate both off the ball and with his own passing.

How Ball Helps Edwards

Paring that kind of potential to create opportunities is deal for Edwards, who has only grown as a player in his own right, so the addition of Ball in the back court should clear the way for Edwards to take another step up in his development.

But there is more than the on-court potential to look at when it comes to bringing Edwards and Ball together. They're are two of the brightest young stars in the league, both just 24-years-old, and their personalities match their star status.

Both Edwards are outspoken jokesters that ooze well-earned confidence that extends into the way they play.

With their personalities in mind, it should be no surprise that they've become fast friends ahead of their first season playing together, and they've even gotten a head start on their friendship.

During a recent interview at Fanatics Fest New York City, Edwards shared that Ball has been hanging out with him at his house and the two were getting along well.

Crucial Chemistry

This is a great sign for the Minnesota Timberwolves. Chemistry is crucial for any basketball team, but chemistry between your two starting guards, presumably your guards of the future, is even more key.

The friendship that's building between Edwards and Ball is going to go a long way in building that on-court chemistry and it should be a huge lift to the energy in the Minnesota locker room as well.

The Timberwolves weren't just investing in a point guard, they were investing in a partner for Edwards and and in a shift of the culture of the team.

That investment already looks to be paying off and a single minute of the regular season hasn't even been played.

Now it's time for the next test and to see if their friendship in the summer turns buckets in the fall.
