The Timberwolves are looking to make another addition to the NBA roster.

The end of the offseason is the time for every NBA team to make the final adjustments to their roster and as the offseason winds down and teams need to find those last missing pieces to fill up the vacant spots on their roster, they often turn toward training camp as the last audition for prospective players.

That's exactly what the Minnesota Timberwolves are doing by signing guard Jules Bernard to a a training camp contract, per a report from HoopsHype.

The Timberwolves have already had a chance to get a good look at Bernard after seeing him play for the Summer League champion Golden State Warriors earlier this year and it's safe to say that Bernard made an impression in his opportunity with Golden State.

Bernard in Summer League

In four games, Bernard averaged 8.3 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game while shooting 31.3% from the field and 22.2% from three point range. Those numbers aren't the most impressive in the world, but they were enough to warrant the Timberwolves; attention to see if Bernard can further prove himself as a NBA player.

Bernard has had a winding road in his professional basketball career. He went undrafted in 2022 after a collegiate career at UCLA, one that was interrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic, and has since tried to find his spot on a NBA roster through stints in Summer League with several teams as well as several G-League Teams, including the Iowa Wolves.

So this isn't Bernard's first brush with the Timberwolves, though the last time he was attached to the team ended in him being waived from his two-way contract without ever playing at the NBA level for the Timberwolves.

Past Time in the NBA

He has made it to the NBA level in the past, though, appearing in 19 games for the Washington Wizards during the 2023-24 season. During that time, Bernard averaged 3.9 points, 1.4 rebounds and 0.8 assists in 7.8 minutes per game, so that experience could come in handy for him if he earns a shot with the Timberwolves.

Any shot that he gets will of course be dependent on his performance during training camp and even if he does earn a NBA contract with the Timberwolves, he'll be entering into a crowded guard room in Minnesota.

Only time will tell if Bernard actually does earn another shot at the NBA following training camp, but it does serve the Timberwolves to have options to choose from before the season begins.
