A game between the Minnesota Timberwolves and Golden State Warriors scheduled for Saturday at Target Center in Minneapolis was postponed until Sunday, 4:30 pm CST, after federal agents shot and killed a man in Minneapolis earlier in the day Saturday.
The NBA released a statement soon after the shooting to announce the postponement of the game, citing the "safety and security of the Minneapolis community" as the reasons behind the decision.
It's the third shooting, second fatal, by federal agents in the Minneapolis community in the month of January as protestors and community members clash with federal agents of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency.
Tensions have particularly increased after ICE agents shot and killed a woman, Renee Macklin Good, in her car on Jan. 7.

Pretti and the agents then entered a confrontation where Pretti was pushed and held to the ground before one agent shot Pretti several times, killing him.

Golden State was already scheduled to play Minnesota twice in the team's road trip to Minneapolis, so the postponement doesn't alter any existing travel plans for either team.
Neither team had a significant amount of injuries listed for what would have been Saturday's game, but Golden State's Jonathan Kuminga was originally listed as out for the game due to knee soreness. With the extra day in between games, the Warriors could end up activating Kuminga after all.
Both the Timberwolves and the Warriors enter into Sunday's game looking to snap losing streaks: two straight losses for the Warriors and four-straight for the Timberwolves.
Despite their recent struggles, the Timberwolves still own a 27-18 record, tied for sixth the in the tough Western Conference with the Phoenix Suns. Minnesota has the third-highest scoring offense in the NBA at an average of 120 points per game while also being the fourth-most efficient team in both field goal and three point percentage.
It will be a day about more than just basketball on Sunday, with the weight of yet another loss in the community and the ongoing strife in the United States due to ICE agents hanging over Target Center.
