The Golden State Warriors fell to 1-3 since Jimmy Butler tore his ACL last Monday after getting blown out on the second night of a back-to-back against the Minnesota Timberwolves, 108-83.
Though the loss doesn't necessarily hurt as badly because of the back-to-back nature of the game, as well as the laundry list of injuries that kept a total of eight players on the sidelines for the Warriors, scoring the least amount of points in any game this season by far is still demoralizing, to say the least.
The Warriors were on a huge streak prior to the Butler injury, but they'll have to continue rallying if they want to fully bounce back.
After the game, Brandin Podziemski answered questions regarding his thoughts and reflections on the game in his press conference.
Podziemski was first asked about how he felt heading into the game with so many injuries and reflected on Steve Kerr's optimistic message.
"It was just as you said, (we felt) that we could win. We had a good film session this morning."
The game got out of hand at the end of the second quarter due to a 21-6 run by the Timberwolves, which Podziemski dissected.
"I think we turned the ball over a little there (in the second quarter) and gave them some easy ones. I think it just gave them some rhythm going into the second half."
Just a little bit of that rhythm proved to be all the Timberwolves needed, as they didn't let up and held the Warriors to just 18 points in the second quarter and 19 points coming out of the locker room in the third quarter.
With Curry and the rest of the Warriors' main creators out, Podziemski assumed a much larger offensive load than normal, alongside fellow reserve guard Pat Spencer.
"It forces me or Pat to try to get the domino to fall each and every time. That's really the only difference, I think."
Podziemski ended up with 12 points on 4-13 shooting from the field to go with 7 rebounds and 4 assists. The entire starting five for the Warriors scored in double figures, but it's a bit of a misleading stat as they all scored between 10 and 13 points, with Quinten Post's 13 on five baskets leading the way.
Spencer had 10 points along with 5 rebounds and 6 assists, while Gui Santos recorded his first career double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds, but turnovers were abundant from much of the rotation, and not one of the 10 players to see the floor ended with a plus/minus higher than -5.
The Warriors will finish off this road trip with a contest in Utah on Wednesday night, looking to earn three wins in a row this season against the Jazz.
