The NBA trade deadline is on Thursday, which means there are plenty of rumors to go around.
The Golden State Warriors made a big play at last year's deadline, acquiring Jimmy Butler in hopes of competing for another championship in the Steph Curry era.
This year, the Warriors find themselves at a crossroads as Butler suffered a season-ending ACL injury, Jonathan Kuminga has long wanted out of Golden State, and the team doesn't seem to have enough to be a championship contender when April rolls around.
As such, Warriors players are named in a number of trade rumors, including franchise stalwart Draymond Green.
According to Anthony Slater of The Athletic, Draymond's name has been in trade talks as the Warriors decide on their future ahead of the deadline.
Speaking to the media after a loss to the Philadelphia 76ers, Draymond was asked if the rumors were a distraction.
"No it’s not a distraction, everybody does want to talk about it. It doesn't wear on me, it just is what it is. I'd say over the last couple of days it’s gotten more real to me but it doesn't wear on me. I can't control it so I don't worry about things I can't control," he said.
Asked what it's like hearing his name in the rumors, Draymond replied, "It’s a possibility that I might get traded. It’s kind of just what it’s like—yeah, but at some point it’s going to come to an end. Whether that’s a day or two, or a year or two, it’s going to come to an end at some point."
"You got to be okay with that. It’s not something that I can hold onto forever because I can't play basketball forever. It’s got to come to an end at some point anyway.”
Draymond said that he is not worried about the deadline, but is looking forward to it passing so he is no longer asked questions about the rumors.
Marc Stein reported that the Warriors have included Draymond in talks to potentially acquire Giannis Antetokounmpo from the Milwaukee Bucks.
Brandin Podziemski, Jonathan Kuminga, and draft capital are also part of the package. The Warriors have four first-round picks at their disposal to try to lure Giannis to the Bay Area.
It is unclear if Draymond would remain in Milwaukee if such a deal is completed.
Brian Windhorst of ESPN stated that Draymond would want to be moved to another team if he were sent to Milwaukee as part of the Giannis deal. Windhorst said that the Los Angeles Lakers would be a team interested in Draymond, should such a deal come to fruition.
Draymond has long admired LeBron James and has often said how much he has wanted to play alongside LeBron.
