Mike Dunleavy addressed the Warriors' future without Steph Curry and Draymond Green

The Golden State Warriors are currently trying to stay afloat in the Western Conference, back to hovering just over .500 after a slew of injuries have decimated them over the past few weeks.

With Steph Curry, Jimmy Butler, Kristaps Porzingis, and even Draymond Green, from time to time, out for various reasons and ailments, it's natural for thoughts to start to turn to the Warriors' future. The stars aren't getting any younger — Green just turned 36 years old on Wednesday, and Curry will be turning 38 years old in just over a week's time.

Their time in the league is running short. What will the Warriors look like when they all eventually retire?

Mike Dunleavy Addresses Warriors' Future

In an interview with Tim Kawakami of the San Francisco Standard, Warriors general manager Mike Dunleavy addressed what he thinks of the Warriors' future, especially with the notion that it'll be without players like Curry or Green at the helm for the first time in two decades.

"We’re looking forward to what’s next, but at the same time, the idea of a ‘next’ without a Steph Curry or a Draymond Green or a Steve Kerr, it’s not fun and exciting. In no way, shape, or form could I say that. However, you do look forward to the future positively. I think we will continue to make good, positive decisions, moves, things like that, where we’re going to have a really good, competitive team, and there’s going to be excitement here. It’s just going to be different. It’s going to be an excitement without Steph making shots, and Draymond coming up with big stops, and Steve on the sidelines, whenever that is. I’m OK with the reality of it all, and I realize what’s coming, and I think we’ll be ready for it."

It's a scary reality, considering there hasn't been a Warriors team without Curry since 2009, but age comes for everybody eventually, and that is going to be true for all of the Warriors' stars, no matter what.

How Successful Was The Curry Era In Golden State?

It's currently unclear how long Curry and the rest of the Warriors' veterans will play. Curry is turning 38 years old, but outside of a few injuries here and there, he hasn't really shown any sign of slowing down, especially not production-wise.

Ultimately, if he chooses to hang it up after 20 seasons in the NBA, he would be 41 years old at the end of the 2029-2030 season. He'd finish as one of the longest-tenured players in NBA history, particularly with one single team, and he'll have captained one of the greatest dynasties the NBA has ever seen.

Even if they can't find any success in Curry's twilight years, the Warriors have already accomplished so much with Curry leading the way.

Four championships, including three in four years, is already more than a vast majority of NBA franchises. As a brand, the Warriors skyrocketed from a middling franchise with some pockets of popularity, such as with RUN TMC, the We Believe Warriors, or even back to the Rick Barry or Wilt Chamberlain eras, to now being one of the most well-known NBA franchises in the world.

No matter how it ends, the past 17+ years with Curry, Green, and the rest of the veterans leading the way have been revolutionary for the Warriors and have surely made their mark in the NBA history books.
