LeBron's history with the Warriors may have drawn him away from playing with the franchise.
This offseason, LeBron James made the decision to join the Philadelphia 76ers on a two-year, $8 million deal. One of the teams in the mix to sign the all-time great was the Golden State Warriors.
James had stated in the past that he would like to play with Stephen Curry at some point in his career, and it was possible that it could have come to fruition this summer. According to NBA insider Anthony Slater of ESPN, James may not have wanted to join Curry and the Warriors because of the history he has with the organization.
Slater mentioned that he talked to a source who believed that James would have rather played with Curry for another franchise than Golden State. Curry and LeBron faced off against each other in the NBA Finals from 2015 to 2018, and the Warriors won three of the four matchups.

Are the Warriors Doing Right by Steph Curry?
Aside from the Warriors' interest in LeBron, they have had a relatively quiet offseason. They brought back veteran forward Draymond Green on a one-year, $27.7 million deal after not landing James, and in the draft, they selected Yaxel Lendeborg with the 11th overall pick.
Golden State also brought back veteran centers Al Horford and Kristaps Porzingis to fill out the frontcourt, but they have yet to add a player who is a true difference-maker. Curry is entering the last year of his contract, and the Warriors have not shown a sense of urgency to compete for a title.

Last season, the Golden State Warriors had a record of 35-47 and made an appearance in the Play-In Tournament. The Western Conference is still as talented as it was last season, and the Warriors may not have a roster that can keep up with the likes of the Thunder, Spurs, or Timberwolves.
While there have been no rumors of a potential Steph Curry trade, it would not be out of the realm of possibility considering where the Warriors are as a franchise and where he is in his career.
