A potential Steph Curry contract extension will be among the upcoming conversations for the Warriors.

On Saturday, the Golden State Warriors finally finished off three weeks of uncertainty by bringing Steve Kerr back as head coach on a two-year contract.

The 12-year coach had initially been unsure about his return to the team due to a myriad of reported factors, but it seems Kerr and the Warriors' front office were able to square away any concerns.

Now, the Warriors' offseason can move forward with the rest of the decisions that need to be made, and a large portion of that concerns roster construction. The Warriors finished this past season 37-45, largely due to injury concerns, but there were also some glaring roster inconsistencies throughout the season that still need to be addressed.

Conversations About Steph Curry Contract Extension Expected

Kerr's return means a lot for how this roster may look moving forward, and it is the most significant to two players, in particular: Steph Curry and Draymond Green.

The latter has a player option this summer worth about $27 million, and though he had previously said he was uncertain about returning to the Warriors, Kerr's presence makes it much more likely that Green ends up back in the Bay Area for a 15th season.

On the other hand, Curry's contract still has another year remaining on it, and it was valid to wonder if he'd be interested in an extension ahead of the contract expiration, or if he'd potentially test free agency next summer.

Curry did say after the Warriors' Play-In loss that he wanted to have "multiple" more years in his career and that he would be interested in an extension. Now with Kerr signed on for at least another year beyond Curry's contract, a contract extension makes a lot more sense, and the newest reporting reflects that.

As part of the news that Kerr agreed to his contract from ESPN's Shams Charania, Ramona Shelburne, and Anthony Slater, the trio also reported that Curry and the Warriors are "expected to have extension conversations later this summer."

Curry is a quintessential franchise legend for the Dubs, and maintaining him beyond 2027 could ease some worries ahead of next season.

Other Parts Of The Roster Will Be Addressed

The roster isn't complete even if Curry is given an extension and Green returns. With Jimmy Butler and Moses Moody out with injury for most of next season, the Warriors will need to make some adjustments, and it looks like they're ready to.

Charania, Shelburne, and Slater reported that the Warriors' front office "intends to be aggressive in rearranging the team to better compete for a playoff spot in a crowded conference."

This season, the Warriors were 8.0 games behind the Suns for the 8th seed and 12 games behind the Timberwolves for the 6th seed. Unless some major changes happen this offseason with the playoff teams, which seems largely unlikely for many of them, it is indeed going to be a difficult path to the playoffs once again with the Warriors' current roster.

These rearrangements can take a number of forms, though, whether it's through going after a star player via trade, making smaller moves for different kinds of role players, or simply signing different players using their exceptions and trying to remodel how they approach the season.

The Warriors will also get to add the 11th pick that they landed in Sunday's draft lottery, guaranteeing a young prospect that could also change how they approach trades or free agency.

Ultimately, health was the biggest factor in the Warriors' subpar finish, but they weren't exactly dominant when they were fully healthy, either. A shakeup in roster construction could add some new life to the outlook of this team.
