The Golden State Warriors took down the New York Knicks 126-113 on Thursday night at Chase Center, and it was another strong showing from a team that has turned things around over the past several weeks.
After the game, star guard Stephen Curry shared his thoughts on how the Warriors are playing lately and what needs to happen heading into the second half of the season.
"I like where we're at, I like the vibes, I like the idea of how we're playing," Curry said. "We got probably three tough losses over the last couple of weeks but the resiliency we're showing if we can keep doing that and try to get to the All-Star break with more of the same we should be in good shape."
The win moved the Warriors to 23-19 on the season, four games over .500 for the first time this year and keeping them in a good spot in a crowded Western Conference race.
Curry finished the night with 27 points and seven assists while shooting 4-of-5 from three in the second half after a slow start from deep.
Jimmy Butler III led all scorers with 32 points and eight rebounds, while Moses Moody added 21 points with seven made three-pointers and Brandin Podziemski chipped in 19 off the bench.
It was exactly the kind of balanced effort that has helped Golden State climb back into the playoff picture.
The Warriors have focused on limiting turnovers in recent weeks, and the results are showing.
After averaging more than 16 turnovers a game earlier in the season, they have cut that number down to around 13 per game during their improved stretch of play.
Curry has talked about finding a consistent rotation and getting guys comfortable with each other, and it seems like the team chemistry is finally clicking.
The Knicks were without Jalen Brunson due to a sprained ankle, but Golden State still had to battle through a pesky New York squad that made a push in the third quarter before Curry and Butler put the game away in the fourth.
As Curry noted, the Warriors have had a few tough losses lately, including a painful defeat to the Hawks over the weekend, but the way they have responded shows a resilient mindset heading into the stretch run.
The Warriors now sit in good position in the Western Conference standings with the All-Star break coming up.
If they can keep playing with the same energy and bounce back from setbacks the way they have been, Curry believes this team will be in a good spot come playoff time.
