LeBron James and Stephen Curry could be linking up next season.
The possibility of LeBron James joining the Golden State Warriors continues to move like a Disney roller coaster in momentum, with Stephen Curry making it clear he would welcome the opportunity to share the court with his longtime rival.
Speaking with the San Francisco Chronicle during the American Century Championship celebrity golf tournament in Stateline, Nevada, Curry acknowledged he has remained in contact with James as the four-time NBA champion weighs his options in free agency.
"We've obviously talked," Curry said. "He deserves all the patience and space to figure out what he wants to do as his career winds down. We all understand and appreciate that."
The Major Quote
Curry then delivered the quote that immediately caught the attention of the NBA world.
"I would love to play with him, and hopefully that will be a reality soon."
The two future Hall of Famers have spent more than a decade battling each other on basketball's biggest stage. Between 2015 and 2018, the Warriors and Cleveland Cavaliers met in four consecutive NBA Finals, creating one of the league's greatest modern rivalries. Curry won three of those championship matchups before the two finally became teammates while leading Team USA to a gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Now, there is a legitimate possibility they could reunite at the NBA level.
James remains one of the biggest names available this offseason after departing the Los Angeles Lakers. While the Cleveland Cavaliers have widely been viewed as the favorites to bring back the franchise icon, the Warriors continue to monitor the situation as Golden State looks to return to championship contention.
According to Curry, the Warriors are willing to remain patient while James decides where he wants to play his record-setting 24th NBA season.
If James ultimately signs elsewhere, Golden State will continue searching for other ways to improve its roster.

The Warriors have already missed out on several free-agent targets this offseason, including Anfernee Simons and former Lakers forward Rui Hachimura, making James' decision even more significant for the franchise.
Despite the uncertainty, Curry expressed confidence in Golden State's front office.

"It's very unique circumstances right now... I don't know what kind of creative ways we can continue to get better if LeBron doesn't come or whatever, but we'll figure it out."
The Warriors are also hoping young players such as Yaxel Lendeborg and Will Richard can provide immediate contributions next season, but adding James would instantly transform Golden State into one of the Western Conference's top contenders.
Until James announces his decision, the Warriors—and much of the NBA—will continue to wait. Curry has made his stance clear: after years of competing against one another, he hopes the next chapter of their legendary careers will be spent wearing the same uniform.
