How are the Warriors communicating with LeBron James?

The basketball world continues to wait for LeBron James to make a decision on his future after he opted to leave the Los Angeles Lakers as an unrestricted free agent.

LeBron is reportedly deciding between the San Antonio Spurs, Golden State Warriors, Minnesota Timberwolves, Denver Nuggets, New York Knicks, Philadelphia 76ers, Miami Heat, and Cleveland Cavaliers.

Recent reports indicate that the Spurs, Nuggets, and Knicks more or less been dropped from his list for various reasons, while the Cavaliers, Heat, 76ers, and Warriors are the frontrunners.

The Warriors have been linked to LeBron since the end of his season, after the Lakers lost in the second round to the Oklahoma City Thunder in the playoffs.

Latest On LeBron And Golden State

ESPN's Anthony Slater appeared on SportsCenter and said that while not many people in this process have been able to speak directly to LeBron, members of the Warriors have had an open line to him.

Steph Curry and LeBron were at a golf event together, while Draymond Green and LeBron have spent vacation time together.

Draymond openly spoke on his podcast that he made a pitch to LeBron about joining the Warriors. The last time Draymond made a strong pitch to a superstar player in free agency, Kevin Durant joined a team that went 73-9.

LeBron has reportedly heard voice messages from teams, but hasn't had as much direct communication with teams as things have filtered through his agent, Rich Paul.

Do The Warriors Have An Edge?

Among the Western Conference teams, they appear to be the frontrunners, but by the sound of things, the Cleveland Cavaliers have the overall edge while the Heat and 76ers are behind them.

LeBron has been in California for the last eight seasons as a member of the Lakers, but he previously played for the Cavaliers, the team that drafted him and the team he returned to in 2024, and the Heat, the team he left Cleveland for in 2010. He's won championships with both teams as well.

The lure of playing alongside Steph Curry, the other greatest player of this generation, might be too good for LeBron to pass up. Fans got a taste of what a LeBron-Steph duo might look like in the Olympics, but over the course of an 82-game season and a potential playoff run, it might be once-in-a-lifetime magic in the NBA.

For now, the Warriors and the rest of the league waits for LeBron.
