Brandin Podziesmki will be a Warrior for a long time.
The Golden State Warriors are locking down one of their core young players for the foreseeable future.
Guard Brandin Podziemksi hasn't made the biggest impact on the floor for the Warriors in the three seasons that he's played in Golden State, but his steady improvement since the beginning of his career and his increased role has such an impression on the Warriors that they've made the move to lock him down for half a decade.
Per a report from ESPN's Shams Charania, the Warriors are signing Podziemski to a five-year, $110 million contract extension that includes a mutual option for the 2031-32 season and a trade kicker, meaning Podziemski would receive a financial bonus if he's ever traded to a new team.

This new contract will take the Podziemski through the 2031-32 season at the latest, giving the Warriors some added security in the backcourt that helps them prepare for an eventual Steph Curry-less future, though the Warriors don't need to worry about that for some time considering that the Warriors signed Curry to his own extension this offseason.
Podziemski was drafted 19th-overall by the Warriors during the 2023 NBA Draft and has been a main piece of the Warriors' ever since, starting out as primarily a bench player in his rookie and sophomore seasons before seeing his usage increase last season, where he averaged 13.8 points, 5.1 rebounds and 3.7 assists in 28.5 minutes per game.

New Money, New Expectations
This extension is a clear indication of the Warriors' vision for Podziemski going forward and that fact that he has a trade kicker baked into his new contract, even if it's not a full no-trade clause, shows that the Warriors at least have an unwillingness to part with Podzimski without the best possible offer they could receive for him.

A $22 million average annual value isn't a light payday by any means and with that price tag now attached to him, and Golden State's faith along with it, Podziemski will have the added responsibility of proving that he can prove the Warriors right about him.
To do that, Podziemski will have to make the leap from role player to true starter and standout player. It may take some time for him to make that kind of leap, but after this extension, time is on his side.
