There's one bold move that could transform the Warriors.
The Golden State Warriors so far haven't fulfilled their offseason mission of adding another star to support Steph Curry and catapult the Warriors back into playoff contention, and it seems like time is running out for Golden State to take a big swing at a free agent if the organization doesn't act quickly.
They've missed out on Giannis Antetokounmpo and Kawhi Leonard in the trade market and while they've been linked to LeBron James in free agency, there may be another star, one younger, who could not only help satisfy the Warriors' desire to ramp up the team, but could fill a critical roster need in the process.
It looks increasingly clear that Jalen Duren's time with the Detroit Pistons is at an end and he's already been linked to a variety of teams, most notably the Sacramento Kings in a potential sign-and-trade scenario, but if the Warriors act quickly and competitively, they may be able to swoop in and sign the All-Star center.

Golden State has been in need of a true rim protector and more of a threat inside the paint since the beginning of the season.
While the Warriors traded for Kristaps Porzingis midseason and have since signed him to a multiyear deal, Porzingis' talents as a perimeter shooting big man are better served with him playing the four rather than defaulting him to the five simply because of his size.

What Would It Take?
With the Kings in play and teams like the Los Angeles Clippers reportedly interested in Duren as well, it won't be a simply process for the Warriors to simply move in and sign him and they too may need to go the sign-and-trade route with the Pistons in order to make it happen, sacrificing assets in the process, the upside that Duren has would make it worth it.
Adding Duren to the squad would instantly level up the Warriors defensively and free up Porzingis to be more of a threat around the perimeter both offensively and defensively and pairing the two big men together with the added threat of Draymond Green gives Golden State a plethora of size to work with.
It would be a bold move and may come at a heavy cost, but considering the Warriors' position in the Western Conference right now, bold moves are the kind that they need to make.
