Opinion Discussion

2026-2027 Wizards Path to Improvement – Part I
The Wizards have three players that played significant minutes and shot better than 35% from 3PT range last year (Bub Carrington at nearly 41%, Kyshawn George, 38.1%, and Tre Johnson at 35.8%. They added Trae Young, a career 35.2% shooter and have players that could improve their shooting percentages (Sarr, Coulibaly), but overall, there aren’t enough good shooters (among those likely to log significant minutes – I’m omitting Tre Mann for example) on the projected 2026-27 roster.
That means running a 5-out offense won’t be the base scheme or a good idea in general. It means the offense will depend on mid-range and rim attempts. That means lots of P&R, elbow screens, pin downs, back cuts, and player movement, not just ball movement, not just DHO up top to hunt and open look from 3PT range.

Is AJ Dybantsa The ROTY Frontrunner In Your Eyes?
To me, there may be too many mouths to feed for AJ to win Rookie of the Year over a guy like Cam Boozer or Caleb Wilson.

Wizards Were Absolutely Right To Take AD Out Of Trade Talks
The Wizards made the right decision in my opinion to not trade Anthony Davis... at least not yet.

Worth it to lock in the last three games?
At 17-62 with three games remaining, the Wizards have already guaranteed themselves a bottom-three record, which means a 52.1% chance at a top-four draft pick and a 14.0% chance at the No. 1 overall pick.
Nothing they do over this final stretch will raise or lower their odds, but it could be beneficial in avoiding the tanking punishments that the NBA seems set to hand out this offseason. Would it be worth it to try to get to the No. 2 or No. 3 spot to save face while getting late-season experience for the young players? Or is the risk of dropping all the way to the No. 6 or No. 7 pick too much?

Next Wizards All-Star?
Another year without a Wizard in the All-Star game. I think Sarr or Ky is most likely to be next, but Trae or AD would definitely get more national recognition if the team is winning. Is Tre Johnson a dark horse?

AD reportedly upset with trade... who cares?
I will preface this by saying I have not read the Ben Standig story yet. However, there's been some buzz that Anthony Davis is not happy with being traded to the Wizards and he wants to be on a contender.
Dude, what choice do you have? AD has been injured so much and has an absolutely abominable contract. Who else would trade for him?

Wizards interested in Zion?
From The Athletic's Josh Robbins this morning:
"With the Young trade as the template of a low-cost trade for a distressed asset, league sources speculated that New Orleans Pelicans big man Zion Williamson would be someone the Wizards would have to consider if the price is right."
