The Washington Wizards ended the 2025-26 regulars season on a ten-game losing streak, their third double digit losing streak this season.

The day have officially arrived with the final loss of the season officially in the books,

For the third consecutive season, the Washington Wizards have failed to win 20 regular season games, ending the 2025-26 regular season on a ten game losing streak following a 130-117 loss against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Sunday's loss cemented a 17-65 finish in 2025-26, just two wins better than the 15-win season that led to Brian Keefe to be named interim coach after Wes Unseld Jr was fired midway through the 2023-24 season.

Washington also did so by losing their final ten games of the regular season, the third losing streak over ten games in 2025-26.

Head coach Brian Keefe is now 43-160 as head coach in Washington, including 35-129 since being named the permanent head coach ahead of the 2024-25 season.

Yet Sunday's loss merely marked the end of the regular season after their fate was cemented after Friday's loss against the Miami Heat in the home finale. The loss cemented the Wizards entering the offseason with the worst record in the NBA with a top five pick guaranteed and a 14% chance at securing the top overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft. Washington also has a 52.1% chance at securing a top four overall pick.

The downside is no team to end the season with the league's worst record has ended up picking first in the subsequent draft, a trend the Wizards will look to change when the lottery unfolds on May 10.

Of course, after eight consecutive seasons with the Wizards finishing below .500, the biggest question remains whether the front office and roster will be able to change that next season.

While the Trae Young debut materialized as general manager Will Dawkins was consistently optimistic would happen, Anthony Davis has yet to take the floor in a Wizards uniform while fans look ahead at the development of the young core with Alex Sarr, Kyshawn George, Will Riley and Tre Johnson among those who are part of the foundation.

How the Wizards attack the offseason will also be a question for Davis, who admitted he wants to see what the front office's plan as he prepares to enter year two of his three year contract. Trae Young will also enter the offseason with a question to answer with a near $49 million player option with a question about his long term status. Young prioritized being traded to a team that would be open to a long-term deal while Dawkins noted the two sides were in communication once the former Hawks star was formally introduced.

Yet of course, the biggest question will be answered when the lottery unfolds with all eyes on what pick the Wizards draw during the NBA Draft lottery, set for May 10, before free agency begins in late June.
