The Washington Wizards have added a former G League star to the active 2025-26 roster for the second time within a week and ahead of the final 29 games.
The Washington Wizards still have a few days until they return from the All Star break to host the Indiana Pacers in the first of a back-to-back, but general manager Will Dawkins made another slight roster tweak on Monday to add to the roster's depth.
The team announced that Capital City Go-Go guard Alondes Williams has been signed to a ten day contract.
Williams now becomes the 13th addition on the Wizards' roster including three two-way deals and a pair of ten-day contracts alongside Kadary Richmond.
Richmond was signed by the team last week ahead of the team's final game ahead of the All Star break where he posted five points, a pair of rebounds, one assist, one block and one steal in just six minutes of a 25-point loss against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
While Wednesday marked an NBA regular season debut for Richmond, the latest roster transaction now sets the stage for Williams' first NBA appearance since the 2024-25 season when he appeared in just one game for the Detroit Pistons. He began his career as an undrafted free agent with the Brooklyn Nets, spending his rookie season on a two-way contract, before being waived after just one appearance and six games, then spending time in the G League.
Williams spent seven games with the Miami Heat to start the 2023-24 season where he averaged 07 points and 0.1 rebounds in just 2.3 minutes before being waived, but he made a name for himself after ending the season named the NBA G League Most Improved Player after averaging 20.3 points on 49.8% shooting from the field, 5.3 rebounds. 7.1 assists, 1.3 steals and 0.6 blocks in 37.4 minutes and 43 appearances.
Also a runner-up in the G League Slam Dunk competition in 2025, Williams now heads to the Wizards looking to turn 146 games of G League experience into NBA success in an audition role for the rest of the Wizards' 2025-26 season.
The move also comes with several Wizards already sidelined, including star center Alex Sarr who was replaced by Bub Carrington in the Rising Stars game after the team announced a hamstring injury would sidelined the former second overall pick roughly two weeks. Anthony Davis and Trae Young are in line for key medical visits during the All Star break after general manager Will Dawkins noted it is "highly likely" that both return in at least some capacity following the mid-season break. D'Angelo Russell was announced as not yet - likely permanently - joining the team following the trade while Cam Whitmore remains sidelined for the season. Meanwhile, Tre Johnson has since returned from injury and Jaden Hardy already made his Wizards debut to provide a boost to the backcourt.
Of course, the Wizards enter the final stretch of the season with the second-best odds to take the top overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft as they look to become the latest team to avoid a punishment for tanking ahead of a loaded ahead of April.
