For the second consecutive year, the Washington Wizards are signing Alondes Williams to an Exhibit 10 deal
The Washington Wizards are bringing back a familiar name to the team for training camp.
After sticking within the organization last season, the Washington Wizards are signing guard Alondes Williams to an Exhibit 10 deal for the second consecutive season. Williams has no remaining two way eligibility and has not been on a standard NBA contract prior, while Greg Finberg was first to confirm the deal is an Exhibit 10 contract.
Williams, a 6-foot-4 guard, will now get a chance at sticking in the NBA.
After going undrafted out of Wake Forest in 2022, Williams then signed a two-way contract with the Brooklyn Nets and was waived after appearing in one game where totaled two turnovers and one rebound in five minutes. Williams then signed with the Miami Heat in July 2023 before moving on to their G League affiliate, the Sioux Falls Skyforce. Yet he would ultimately sign a two-way deal midway through the 2023-24 season before eventually being named the G League Most Improved Player after averaging over 20 points while shooting nearly 50% from the field, along with 7.1 assists, 5.3 rebounds, 1.3 steals and 0.6 blocks in over 37 minutes per game.
That led Williams to then sign an Exhibit 10 contract with the Los Angeles Clippers ahead of the 2024-25 season before he was released, leading him to then sign a two way deal with the Detroit Pistons the next month.
Williams then made the move to Washington after inking an Exhibit 10 deal with the Wizards in October 2025, then a ten day contract in mid-February where he appeared in four games. His best performance came in his second regular season appearance on Feb. 20 after he recorded a double-double in a win against the Indiana Pacers with 25 points and ten rebounds while adding four assists, two blocks, one steal and shooting 9-of-11 from the field.
With a chance to impress once again as he returns for training camp with an Exhibit 10 deal able to be converted into a two-way deal, a spot the Wizards currently don't have available, Williams spent time with the Boston Celtics in Summer League where he shot just north of 21% from the field across 60 minutes.
As the Wizards still have one roster spot to fill, the news came shortly after the Wizards were one of four teams linked to wingman DeMar DeRozan alongside the Miami Heat, Cleveland Cavaliers and Denver Nuggets, though the Heat have been viewed to be the frontrunners in the race for the veteran. For Washington, point guard was viewed to be the route the organization turns to finalize the roster.
