Earlier last month, it was reported that one of the top quarterback recruits in the 2027 freshman class, Elijah Haven accepted a visit to the University of Alabama.
Well, after spending this past weekend in Tuscaloosa, the junior in high school is feeling very bullish about donning the crimson and white for his college career.
He had a front row seat to the Crimson Tide knock one of their biggest rivals in Tennessee down, by the score of 37-20.
“Now it brings up right up to the top,” Elijah’s father, Kwame told Rivals. “I always stress stability in the program and quarterback development … two things are definitely first and foremost and highlights of Alabama in the program. DeBoer seems to be getting a good handle on the program getting comfortable … He’s settling into the role, the expectation of being the coach of Alabama…”
He even added that the visit to Alabama was one of their best ones yet because of the extended one-on-one time with coaches, and touring the campus.
“We were able to experience some time with the coaches. We actually got a tour of campus, so that was really good, able to take our time and view some of the non-football stuff and spend some more time with the coaches … It was probably our best visit up there to Bama because we were able to spend more time, so to do that for the game was great.”
Just today, Rivals' Vice President of Recruiting Steve Wiltfong and Recruiting Analyst Sam Spiegelman both made a prediction that Haven was going to eventually commit to Alabama.
Of the five other schools that Haven agreed to visit were Penn State, Florida, Georgia, Auburn, and LSU. It seemed that Haven was leaning more toward Florida, but after the firing of head coach Billy Napier, it may have thrown a wrench in the Gators’ plans.
The same goes with Penn State, after it fired coach James Franklin, and it’s undetermined what the verdict will be on Auburn.
Recently, five-star Auburn commit Bralan Womack made it clear that he wasn’t happy with the direction the Tigers are going in.
"You've got to score 20 or more points to compete. And we've done that zero times in SEC play. It doesn't look like it's going to change. Nothing's changing."
It’s not exactly a ringing endorsement for head coach Hugh Freeze and it may even be worse for any high-ranked commit who’s contemplating signing there. But that doesn’t seem to deter Elijah from making his decision.
“They’re all still in the hunt,” Kwame said. “Obviously, I want my son to win and go to a winning program and to have a culture of winning, but it’s the SEC, so these schools are all good …”
Elijah recently announced that this commitment date is scheduled for January 1, 2026, and he will re-visit Tuscaloosa next month.
