This Alabama Crimson Tide wide receiver could be facing a do or die season in 2026.
The Alabama Crimson Tide are well known for putting elite receivers on to the NFL level, and they are once again loaded with talent at the position heading into 2026.
Ryan Coleman-Williams is viewed my many as one of the top wide outs in next year's draft class, and Lotzeir Brooks seems prepared for a breakout campaign. Then, there's 6-foot-5 sophomore Derek Meadows, who is oozing with potential. Four-star freshman Cederian Morgan is a tantalizing prospect, as well.
But what about Rico Scott?
Now entering his redshirt sophomore campaign, Scott has not lived up to his lofty expectations for when he arrived at Alabama in 2024.
To be fair, the former four-star recruit hasn't really gotten a chance, as he has been buried on the depth chart, but you would think Kalen DeBoer would have given him more playing time had he impressed in practice.

Credit: David Leong-Imagn Images.Scott has amassed a grand total of 16 catches for 158 yards and three touchdowns over his first couple of seasons with the Crimson Tide, and going into the fall, he may find himself at the back end of Alabama's wide receiver room once again.
Coleman-Williams and Brooks are obviously the top two receivers. Meadows could very well end up being No. 3 due to his massive size. Scott will then be competing with Morgan and transfer addition Tyler Henderson, and while fellow transfer Noah Rogers is injured, he is expected to be back at some point.
That's why fall camp is absolutely imperative for Scott. In fact, it is surely his most vital fall camp to date.
Scott doesn't possess incredible size at six foot, 198 pounds, but he has jaw-dropping speed and could provide 'Bama with a legitimate vertical threat.
The problem is that Alabama has a lot of those guys, so Scott will have to do something else to really stand out and establish himself as a regular weapon.
If Scott isn't able to break through in Tuscaloosa this year, you have to think that the Harrisburg, Pa. native will consider transferring after the season.
It's a shame, because Scott clearly has talent, but the Crimson Tide are just so stacked at his position that he may never get a fair shot.
