Shortly after the Alabama Crimson Tide smoked the Tennessee Volunteers, there were rumors swirling that 2027 four-star quarterback Trent Seaborn was eventually going to commit to Alabama.
Well now, those rumors have turned into a reality.
Seaborn, an Alabaster, AL native, made an unofficial visit on Saturday, his second in the month of October and quickly decided that he wanted to stay home.
"I love how structured the offense is and how Ty's [Simpson] ability to stay on time in his decision making really helps this offense go," he told 247Sports. "I think anytime I see stuff like that that's relatable to my own skillset and the offense I run at Thompson [High School], it's really appealing. Ty's command of the system and understanding of where he needs to go with the ball really make it go, and when things don't go according to plan, he's got the athleticism to extend a play, buy time, and avoid negative plays.”
It’s been a long road for Seaborn, who even though currently hails from Alabaster, was originally from Hawaii.
But after being coached by Galu Tagovailoa – father of former Alabama great, Tua, the Seaborn family moved to the Heart of Dixie.
Due to the Tagovailoa connection, Nick Saban extended an offer to him in 2023 when he was a freshman with the Thompson Warriors. In each of his three seasons as a starter, he’s led the Warriors to the state title three times and has won it twice.
Then once Saban retired, current coach Kalen DeBoer kept in contact with Seaborn.
It seemed destined to be though. The stars aligned perfectly, and now Seaborn gets to play for the school that’s just an hour drive from his home.
"Some schools you visit, and for whatever reason, distance, logistics, you know that may be your one shot at a visit or quality time spent together, so there's this sense of urgency to really lay everything out and dig into details," he said.
"But with Alabama, being so close, and how much we already communicate, those types of conversations sort of unfold organically, and when I'm around Coach DeBoer, [Quarterback] Coach [Nick] Sheridan or [Offensive Coordinator] Coach [Ryan] Grubb, it's really just a continuation of a conversation, not something new.”
He had received offers from 37 Division I schools, including every program in the SEC. Along with that, he received offers from powerhouse schools such as Michigan, Miami, Oregon and Clemson.
Alabama hasn't stopped looking to recruit the nation's top quarterbacks. It currently holds commitments from Jett Thomalla, Tayden Kaawa, and now Seaborn. But the Crimson Tide are still on the hunt, currently looking to win over the commitment of Elijah Haven.
