Dre Kirkpatrick Jr.'s Latest Legal Trouble Could End His Alabama Career
Oct 27, 2026 5:07 PM

Kalen DeBoer dismissed the legacy defensive back following a disturbing arrest, effectively shattering the sophomore’s hopes of mirroring his father’s championship success in Tuscaloosa.

After his second suspension in as many years, Dre Kirkpatrick Jr. is walking on thin ice.

The talented defensive back, whose father, Dre Sr. won two National Championships with the Alabama Crimson Tide, was recently arrested on misdemeanor charges.

Following the arrest, Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer confirmed Monday that Kirkpatrick was no longer with the program, marking a significant development in the junior's future with the Crimson Tide.

In DeBoer’s statement, when speaking at the Monday Morning Quarterback Club, he cited that while he didn’t have all the details about the arrest, he knew that it was enough to know that Kirkpatrick’s actions did not live up to the standard and expectation the program has for its players.

It was later reported by Tuscaloosa News’ Emilie Smarr that Kirkpatrick was arrested on Friday, October 23, the day before the Texas A&M game and was facing misdemeanor doxing and harassing communications charges.

According to Stephen Dethrage of the Tuscaloosa Thread, court documents allege that Kirkpatrick harassed a University of Alabama police officer who was involved in his November 2025 arrest. Kirkpatrick was charged with three counts of reckless endangerment, attempting to elude law enforcement and speeding in that incident.

On October 20 on Facebook messenger, Kirkpatrick messaged the officer “text me back don’t be not b***h!,” according to the report.

Ultimately that officer visited Kirkpatrick's Facebook profile intending to block him, where he found, and he found a picture of himself, his wife, and his two children with the caption “Dis him?”

The unnamed officer reported significant concern for him and his family’s safety granted the large following Kirkpatrick has as the son of a former NFL player and his standing on the Crimson Tide team.

Kirkpatrick was finally integrating himself as a complementary player on Alabama’s secondary, posting five total tackles, a pass breakup and a forced fumble.

Now, with his second arrest and suspension, it seems as if Kirkpatrick’s future with the program is bleak and dim.

As the son of a former first-round NFL draft pick, Kirkpatrick Jr. had an opportunity to build his own legacy at the same program where his father won two national championships. Instead, his latest legal troubles have put that opportunity in serious jeopardy.

However, the only one that may end up preventing him from following in his father’s footsteps is himself.

Alabama carries itself as a program built on maximum effort, discipline, commitment, and championship expectations.

The conduct alleged in the court documents stands in direct contrast to the discipline and accountability Alabama expects from its players.

And with his inability to follow those core competencies on several occasions, we may have seen the last of Kirkpatrick Jr. in the crimson and white.
