A former Alabama Crimson Tide star has reached a crossroads on the NFL level.

During his time with the Alabama Crimson Tide, wide receiver Jerry Jeudy was an absolute stud, and most expected as much from him on the NFL level.

Jeudy was selected by the Denver Broncos with the 15th overall pick of the 2020 NFL Draft, ahead of fellow receivers like CeeDee Lamb, Justin Jefferson, Brandon Aiyuk and Tee Higgins.

Naturally, expectations were lofty, but Jeudy never quite lived up to them in Denver.

In fact, the Broncos ended up trading the Deerfield Beach, Fl. native to the Cleveland Browns in March 2024.

Jeudy then appeared to be on the verge of stardom, as he hauled in 90 receptions for 1,229 yards and four touchdowns during his debut campaign in Cleveland.

Then, everything unraveled for the former Alabama star.

Jeudy caught just 50 passes for 602 yards and just two scores last season, and this year, he hasn't even bene a factor for the Browns, having logged eight catches for 81 yards on 15 targets through five games.

The 27-year-old has fallen behind rookies Denzel Boston and K.C. Concepcion in Cleveland's receiving corps, and it's becoming increasingly obvious that he will get dealt before the NFL trade deadline.

But will Jeudy be able to rediscover success elsewhere?

Jeudy's career trajectory is odd, to say the least. He had a strong rookie season in Denver, snaring 52 balls for 856 yards and three touchdowns. He then fell off a cliff in Year 2 before resurfacing with 972 yards in 15 games in 2022.

Who was the real Jerry Jeudy? No one really knew.

However, at this point, it has become apparent that Jeudy will never quite match the expectations that were placed upon him when he left Tuscaloosa.

Jeudy seemed to have all of the tools at Alabama. Good size, impressive speed, sticky hands and solid route-running ability. But he has been unable to put it all together in the pros, and now he is probably worth a late Day 3 pick in a trade.

Perhaps a contending team will acquire Jeudy between now and Nov. 10 and make him a significant part of its receiving corps, but there is no question that Jeudy's NFL career is in grave danger right now.

Jeudy is slated to hit free agency this offseason, and if he doesn't turn things around in 2026, he won't get anything more than a very cheap one-year contract. And then he will be at risk of becoming a lifetime journeyman.

It's up to Jeudy to prove that his breakout 2024 campaign wasn't just a one-year wonder.
