When four-star quarterback Trent Seaborn gave his commitment to the University of Alabama, he was adamant that he was all in.
What the Crimson Tide brass didn’t realize was how quickly he’d be an extension to their recruiting staff.
Seaborn is a four-star recruit hailing from Alabaster, AL, but originally from Hawaii, and found his way to Alabama with the help of an old friend.
While still living in Hawaii, he was coached by Galu Tagovailoa, the father of Alabama legend, Tua. It was then that the Seaborn family opted to move from the Aloha State to the Yellowhammer State to elevate Trent’s football career.
With an offer from Nick Saban in 2023, and a handful of unofficial visits to Tuscaloosa, Seaborn emphatically committed to Alabama.
However, in the current landscape of college football, a commitment doesn’t always mean “I’m all in.”
Seaborn, on the other hand, decided to do it the traditional way with a modern twist. By refusing to accept any official visits to any other programs, while simultaneously recruiting the top recruits in his class.
“I just felt because I’m so locked in with Alabama, it’s really no point in going on these other OVs when I could be using that time to recruit other guys in my class and even the classes below me,” Seaborn said. “I can use those opportunities to get the best guys in the nation coming to Alabama.”
He continued, “A big guy I [have] been going after is [Monshun] Sales, but his nickname is ‘Bama,’ and I think that’s a good sign as well. Another big guy is Maxwell Hiller and some other O-Linemen like Kennedy Brown.”
Seaborn isn’t exaggerating on Sales. Sales has generated a ton of interest from the Alabama staff, so much so that On3’s VP of Recruiting Steve Wiltfong logged an expert prediction for Sales to land in Tuscaloosa.
Not just that, Sales, who was raised in Alabama, also grew up an Alabama fan. He currently has a visit scheduled in Tuscaloosa on May 29.
A lot has been said about how Alabama has done since Saban retired. But since then, Alabama has managed to bring in some of the top quarterbacks in the nation in Keelon Russell, Jett Thomalla, Seaborn, and are still favorites to nab Elijah Haven.
For a player that won’t be suiting up for the Tide until 2027, Seaborn is showing a main trait needed to be great in this game.
Leadership.
